Chapter 16 I really won't eat it.
On the way back, Xie He looked at the things in her hand and then touched her purse, and sighed silently.
But thinking about her daughter's abilities made her happy again. What did it matter if she spent all the money as long as her daughter was happy? As long as her daughter was happy! Besides, it was her daughter who caught those pheasants and rabbits!
However, she still looked at the pig offal in the basket with some disgust, so she asked Wen Luozhi, "Girl, what's the point of eating this pig offal? It smells like pig manure."
Wen Luozhi pointed mysteriously to the sky and whispered in her ear, "The old immortal told me a way to make money."
Xie He nodded in delight and said no more. She wouldn't say anything more about the old immortal and her daughter! Lest the old immortal get upset and take back her daughter's abilities.
When she got home, Wen Luozhi saw Xiao Hu clinging to the door from afar. She smiled and took out a candied hawthorn to tempt him, "Xiao Hu, do you want some?"
Little Tiger stretched out his little hand and nodded eagerly. Wen Luozhi's lips curled into a wicked smile as she pointed to her own face and tempted him, "Then give your little aunt a kiss and I'll give you this candied hawthorn."
Little Tiger frowned and thought for a moment before planting a kiss on Wen Luozhi's cheek.
Wen Luozhi's face lit up with a smile, and she handed him the other string of skewers in her hand. "This is for Sister Erya. Go find Sister Erya and eat with her," she instructed.
Little Tiger nodded blankly, then, with a string of candied hawthorns in one hand, he shuffled off in his little shoes to find Er Ya.
Once inside, she took everything out of the basket, including, of course, the pig offal.
Li Chunxing felt nauseous as soon as she smelled it and ran out. Yang Guilan covered her nose and complained, "Mother, you don't understand, and neither do I! Why did you buy this pig intestine? No matter how you cook it, it smells like pig manure." She took a few steps back in disgust.
"Fine, don't eat it! You can't eat it even if I make it!" Xie He glared at her.
Her daughter has a method taught by an old sage; how could it not taste delicious? Humph!
Yang Guilan pouted and muttered softly, "I really won't eat it."
Wen Luozhi knew their reaction, but Da Ya tugged at her sleeve encouragingly, "Auntie can definitely cook very well, braised chicken and sweet and sour fish are both so delicious."
Wen Luozhi was touched. She took out some of the snacks and stuffed them into Daya's arms. "Take these and lead your sister and Xiaohu to eat them," she said, patting Daya's little shoulder.
After tidying up the things in her basket, Wen Luozhi was about to start cooking. The three of them who went up the mountain to dig potatoes in the morning only brought some water. No matter how filling the potatoes were, they couldn't do without oil and water.
On the way back, she had already told Xie He about her plans. Tomorrow she would try to sell food in town!
She wants to try it at home first. If her family thinks it tastes good, then it should be fine to take it to town.
"Daughter, let your second sister-in-law wash these pig intestines!" Xie He snatched the basin from Wen Luozhi's hand and shoved it into Yang Guilan's hands, saying, "You only have one thing to do this afternoon: wash these pig intestines clean for your old lady!"
Yang Guilan wanted to refuse, but then she heard Wen Zizhong coughing deliberately inside the room. She gritted her teeth, took the basin, and walked out.
She can't wash something this smelly at home; she has to go to the river!
Just as she was about to leave the courtyard, Wen Luozhi handed her a bowl of flour and said with a grin, "Second sister-in-law, after you clean up the pig manure, put flour in it and knead it repeatedly until the wastewater becomes clean and white."
Yang Guilan looked at the flour with a pang of regret. Half a bowl of flour could make several thin pancakes, but now it was being used to wash such a worthless thing.
She thought this to herself, but since the other person was Wen Luozhi, she could only feel sorry for her.
Wen Luozhi set up a pot and started boiling water. After the water boiled, she added scallions and ginger to blanch the pork bones, then boiled more water and simmered them over low heat.
All she had to do was make dumplings, wontons, and braised pork intestines.
On her way back, she passed many roadside stalls and discovered that they really didn't have dumplings.
She asked Xie He again, who looked at her with a puzzled expression, "Dumplings? What dumplings?"
That makes things easier. Dumplings can be boiled, pan-fried, deep-fried, or steamed; they taste good no matter how you cook them.
Pig offal is also a good thing, perfect for drinking with alcohol.
As for the wontons, with her exclusive recipe and bone broth, they're sure to taste amazing.
Xie He had already kneaded the dough. This white flour was the same one that had been taken from the Lin family that day, and Xie He still felt a pang of regret at using half of it.
However, when she thought about how her daughter would need to use this to make money, she changed her mind. This was a good thing!
“Daughter, I know how to roll wonton wrappers, but what about those dumpling wrappers you mentioned…” Xie He looked at Wen Luozhi with difficulty, because she really didn’t know how to make them, having never seen or heard of them before.
"Mom, let me demonstrate. You're so smart, you'll definitely learn it in no time."
Wen Luozhi washed her hands, pinched off half of the dough, rolled it into a long strip, and then divided it into evenly sized dough pieces.
Under Xie He's earnest gaze, she picked up the rolling pin and slowly demonstrated, and in just a few breaths, a thin, round dumpling wrapper appeared on the board.
Under Xie He's surprised gaze, she demonstrated again. This time, before she could say anything, Xie He snatched the rolling pin and confidently said, "My daughter is amazing! Mom has already learned it!"
She picked up a dough ball and imitated Wen Luozhi's movements, and this time she actually learned how to make it.
Looking at the dumpling wrappers that were even better rolled out than hers, Wen Luozhi gave Xie He a thumbs up and said, "Mom is still the best!"
Xie He happily rolled out dumpling and wonton wrappers under her daughter's praise.
Wen Luozhi cut off half of the meat, chopped it up, and started preparing the filling.
Since there were only the two of them in the kitchen at that moment, Wen Luozhi unabashedly redeemed seasonings from the system that she didn't have, which both frightened and delighted Xie He.
After adding the seasonings, Wen Luozhi divided the minced meat into two portions. One portion was made into pork and scallion dumplings with scallions and hot oil, and the other portion was made into pork and mushroom wontons with shiitake mushrooms.
The two started making dumplings and wontons. As before, Wen Luozhi gave Xie He a simple lesson, and Xie He learned it after just one glance.
Soon, the winnowing basket was filled with dumplings that looked like gold ingots. Xie He thought they looked festive and the more she made them, the more enthusiastic she became.
Wen Luozhi's wontons are also wrapped round and plump, which looks very appealing.
After the two finished their work, Yang Guilan returned with the pig offal.
"Mom! You can't buy this stuff like that again! That fatso from the eldest son's side is laughing at me!"
She was referring to the eldest son's sister-in-law, who had only one son and one daughter.
My daughter was sold years ago to save up for my son's dowry, but he ended up marrying a lazy bum!
Mentioning Boss Wen, Xie He's expression changed slightly before returning to normal. "Who cares if she laughs or not! Let's just live our own lives!"
"If it happens again, just rush up and slap her a few times!"
Wen Luozhi gave her mother a thumbs up again; her mother was truly awesome!
So, she hasn't been back to the main branch of the family yet, so it's best if she doesn't come!
Judging from the original owner's memories, that family was no good, especially the old lady!
