Chapter 209 [Empire] Breeder Assessment
Chapter 209 [Empire] Breeder Assessment
Three weeks passed quickly. Qin Annan and his wife's instruction to me consisted essentially of following the dark-skinned boy, Yuka, and his friends in caring for exotic animals, gathering food, and occasionally hunting. They never appeared in any of their "teaching activities."
However, my time is limited, and I will soon go to the planet where the next caregiver is. Today is the day for my skills assessment.
Skill assessment is the only way to gain points on this agricultural planet where there are almost no schools.
Becoming a junior exotic animal breeder is my goal this time.
Today, I'm wearing a suit and tie, a rare sight. Qin Annan said it was considered decent attire for the assessment. Lin Rong's point was that those sanctimonious individuals are prone to playing fast and loose with people. But all in all, this is the most "respectable" outfit I've seen since arriving on this agricultural planet.
The boots are made of soft leather, stylish without sacrificing comfort. They're new, and I polished them before going out. The suit fabric is cool and light, so even with a shirt, vest, and jacket, I don't feel stuffy. He looks like a dashing young man.
There were not many people coming to take the test, and their attire showed a clear polarization.
A suit like mine, dressed in a suit, clearly shows a well-off family. The suit is exquisite, beautifully tailored. Every line is meticulously designed, projecting both elegance and dignity.
Others wore coarse linen clothing, emphasizing practicality and simplicity. While simple, coarse linen clothing was durable and suitable for working in various environments. This was also a favorite of Qin Annan's family.
In reality, most people here wear coarse cloth. This is partly because agriculture and commerce are underdeveloped on this planet, and most natives are quite resistant to interstellar technology. For example, water heaters for bathing are only found in commercial public baths. Even clothing and fabric are produced and sold locally, with little foreign trade. On the other hand, they simply don't need them. Exquisite and beautiful items are simply too flashy here. Take leather shoes and high heels, for example. Outside the interstellar port, the ground is mostly muddy, and the deep, shallow ground is incredibly painful.
The assessment tasks were issued via the optical computer. There were three in total: First, the provided white ball had to recognize its owner, eat food, and be led to the designated area. Second, the white ball had to obey instructions and take a small package from a sleeping giant lizard. Third, the lizard had to be defeated. The assessment was divided into steps; after completing the previous step, you could abandon it midway, and only the previous step would be counted.
We, the test-takers, stood in a vast arena, before a multitude of white balls. These balls were round and furry, some lying quietly, others squirming slightly, looking incredibly adorable.
But I do understand that before these creatures truly possess a name from their masters, it's incredibly difficult to get them to move. They might not even bat an eyelid if you hit them with a stick. They're the kind of creatures that wouldn't react even if a large beast stepped on them. They're not aggressive, but they're incredibly difficult to tame.
A variety of tools that might be used in the assessment were laid out on the side of the field, including delicate brushes, small food containers, colorful toys, and so on. Everyone's eyes flickered back and forth between the white dumplings and the tools, each wondering how to choose the most suitable white dumpling for them and which tools to use to help them complete the assessment.
Some hesitated, wandering in front of different white balls, trying to judge from their appearance and behavior which one would be more likely to recognize its master. Others decisively walked towards a white ball, picked up the tools beside it, and confidently prepared to begin the assessment.
I frowned and sighed inwardly. Everything was there, except for the radish. Taming the white radish with bare hands was incredibly difficult.
Faced with the colorful tools and endless dumplings, I silently chose to read the assessment instructions.
