Chapter 236 [Empire] Lies
Chapter 236 [Empire] Lies
I planted the wheat with some doubts, threw it in the classroom and left. I must have been crazy to bring this thing home.
When I left the classroom, I still felt a little nervous, but more helpless.
Maybe other students have the same idea as me and don’t have high expectations for this experiment.
I went to the coffee shop where Wen Ya used to work, but he was nowhere to be found. The feeling of loss in my heart became stronger and stronger, and I began to worry that Wen Ya might have encountered something serious.
The atmosphere in the cafe remained the same, with the familiar music and aroma of coffee, but the only thing missing was that familiar person. I asked the cafe staff, but they just shook their heads helplessly, saying they didn't know where Wen Ya was.
I stopped for a moment at the place where Wen Ya often stood, as if I could still see him making coffee for the guests.
I didn't know what had happened to him, why he had suddenly vanished without a trace. This uncertainty filled me with anxiety. I worried he might be in danger, or perhaps he had some unspeakable hardship.
After leaving the café, I wandered around for a while, hoping to find some clues. However, all my efforts were in vain. I didn't know where to look for him, nor did I know what else to do.
When I returned to the villa, I was in a depressed mood. I ignored everyone and went back to my room.
The moment I closed the door, it felt as if I was completely cut off from the outside world. The silence in the room, combined with the loss in my heart, made me feel incredibly depressed.
The silence of the night made my thoughts even more confused. My mind was full of Wen Ya's figure and the confusion and worry brought about by his disappearance.
I slumped on the bed, recalling every moment with Wen Ya.
At this moment, Wen Ya's call invitation came through my brain. My heartbeat instantly accelerated, and an indescribable joy and excitement surged in my heart.
The moment the call was connected, Wen Ya switched to voice.
I pricked up my ears, listening carefully to Wen Ya's voice. His tone was a little low, and seemed a little tired. "Sorry, it's not convenient to video chat right now," he explained.
"It's okay, I'm glad to hear your voice." I tried to keep my tone light, not wanting him to sense my worry. "What have you been doing lately? I'm worried about you."
I asked him what happened, but he tried to cover it up, saying he was absorbed in painting and had been home the whole time. This answer made me even more suspicious. Then why was he nowhere to be found when I went to his house? And there was no sign of him at the cafe where he used to work either. His cover-ups made me uneasy.
I had no intention of exposing him. After I knew it was a lie, exposing him or not seemed to have lost much meaning.
My emotions were mixed and conflicted. I was disappointed and saddened by his secrecy. But I was also worried that exposing him would only embarrass him further or push him further away.
Amidst this conflicting emotion, I chose to remain silent.
Wen Ya noticed my silence. A hint of nervousness and uneasiness lingered in his tone. "Are you angry?" he asked cautiously.
I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down. "No, I'm just worried about you," I replied.
He remained silent for a long time and ultimately did not confess his lie, which only made me feel even more lost.
But he still chose to hide it.
