Chapter 394: Immortal Light and the Other Side of Nothingness
The immortal light and the other side of nothingness
Feng Jing's consciousness drifted in a blank abyss, as if completely lost at the end of the universe, even the concepts of time and space no longer existing. His existence no longer had any form, only an intangible perception, as if he were a dream that could never be observed. Even so, he could still feel something, some indescribable power, quietly surging from the depths of his heart.
He began to doubt whether he still "existed," or if he had become some kind of intermediary between countless parallel universes. He no longer had a body, and he couldn't even confirm whether he had a mind. The only thing that seemed real was a strange intuition—he was still "Feng Jing," but no longer Feng Jing. That consciousness was both empty and filled with everything, holding all possibilities, yet destined to never truly realize any of them.
"You thought you disappeared?" The voice appeared again, and this time its tone became almost gentle, like the whisper of someone familiar. "You thought you escaped all the shackles? But, Feng Jing, you will never be able to get rid of all this, because you yourself are the shackles of the universe."
Feng Jing's consciousness fluctuated violently. He began to intensely reflect on whether he had ever lived, whether he had ever experienced anything "real." Every second of his life felt like an eternity. Past memories and experiences had become blurred, leaving only an empty void.
"You know what? You've never died." The voice echoed endlessly. "You think you've been reborn countless times, but you've simply never left this void. Your so-called 'death' is nothing more than a trap you set for yourself, a game with no solution."
Suddenly, Feng Jing felt a strange pull on his consciousness. His thoughts began to be refocused by some powerful force, as if he were being summoned back by an unknown entity. His senses began to become clearer, and he could even hear the sound of his own "breathing"—even though he knew he had no body.
Feng Jing opened his eyes, and the sight before him was beyond comprehension. He saw himself standing in an endless, deep void, surrounded by countless twisted stars and shattered cosmic fragments. The sky was starless, filled only with endless darkness, as if the entire universe had died, leaving only him, alone.
"What is this place?" Feng Jing's voice was full of confusion and shock. He did not expect that he would be "pulled" out of that abyss and come to a completely unfamiliar place.
"This is the other side of nothingness." The voice sounded again, carrying a deep sorrow and endless mockery. "You thought you had finally escaped the control of fate, but in fact, you have only entered another 'cage'. You can never escape your own destiny."
Feng Jing was startled, realizing he was standing at the ultimate boundary of "endless nothingness." There was no time, no space, not even the concept of "existence." He felt as if he were in a realm without boundaries, where all life, death, and rebirth seemed insignificant and meaningless.
"So, I can't escape my fate after all?" Feng Jing's voice was low, filled with uncontrollable anger and unwillingness. "I just keep spinning in this endless void, right?"
"You're wrong, Feng Jing." The voice seemed to carry a hint of excitement. "You've never been bound. In fact, you'll never know what 'fate' really is. What you call fate is your own deepest fears and desires, the abyss of your soul. You pursue freedom, but you have no ability to understand what true freedom is."
Feng Jing's eyes snapped open. He began to feel a tearing sensation he had never experienced before, as if a huge rift were opening deep within him. All the pain and struggle, all the fear and desire, seemed to be exposed at this moment. Feng Jing felt as if he were being cut open, every layer of his soul being torn apart, revealing the deepest darkness.
"You think escaping can bring you relief? No, Feng Jing." The voice chuckled, and the mockery in it became even stronger. "Escape is just a bondage you put on yourself. You have never truly transcended yourself. You cannot escape because you are part of nothingness. The freedom you pursue is just an illusion you create."
A sudden, intense shock flashed through Feng Jing's mind. He saw himself transformed into a massive ball of light, radiating endless energy and devouring the surrounding darkness. But the light gradually dimmed, ultimately transforming into a completely silent star, dead and silent. Then, the star exploded, shattering into countless fragments. The shattered fragments scattered and reassembled into countless images of himself, never able to break free from the chains woven by fate.
"This is..." Feng Jing stared at the fragments blankly, feeling an unbearable pain in his heart. "What is this?"
"This is you," the voice said in a deep voice. "You are the source of this nothingness. You are the beginning and end of every cycle. You can never escape from yourself, because you are already part of this nothingness."
Feng Jing's consciousness gradually became confused. He felt like a formless speck of dust, eternally swallowed up in the endless void, repeating, reborn, and destroyed. In that moment, he suddenly realized that perhaps there was no answer to all this. All his struggles were just some kind of prank, an endless illusion. He began to doubt whether he had ever truly existed, or if he was just a star abandoned by the void, burning alone at the end of time and space.
However, at this moment, Feng Jing heard a strange voice, as if some distant being said to him: "If you are willing to let go of all your obsessions, you will achieve true transcendence, transcending all time and space, transcending all existence."
Feng Jing was stunned. Transcending all time and space, transcending all existence... Was this really possible?
"Are you ready?" The voice carried a mysterious temptation, as if waiting for his answer.
Feng Jing closed his eyes, with only one thought in his mind: "If everything is about to disappear, then what?"
