Chapter 166 Mom said he's still good 1
In the cramped and small rented room, the light was dim and yellow, with the cold, hard incandescent bulb swaying overhead and casting a pale light. The stains on the walls looked particularly eerie in the light and shadow.
"Crispy, is it delicious?"
The man reeked of alcohol, his cloudy eyes fixed on Su Su, who was wolfing down dumplings.
Under the cold, harsh light, the smile on Su's father's face appeared even more eerie.
"Unappetizing!"
Su Su didn't even look up. Looking at her father's forced smile, she felt inexplicably displeased and instinctively retorted without thinking.
Su's father was clearly taken aback; Su Su's answer was obviously not what he expected.
However, he quickly put on a smile again, his wrinkles deepened, and his eyes narrowed into slits.
"How can it not taste good? You only get to eat meat dumplings once in a while!"
Su Su seemed not to hear him at all, ignoring him completely, and just stuffed dumplings into her mouth in big mouthfuls.
This body hadn't tasted meat for far too long. In the past, when there was something delicious, Su Su would always habitually let her father eat first, while she silently swallowed her saliva.
The moment my tongue touched that delicious meaty flavor, my stomach was instantly awakened, clamoring for more and more.
Even though reason tells me that my weak stomach probably can't handle this kind of wolfing down of food, I just can't stop eating.
As Su Su finished the last dumpling in her bowl, she felt a long-lost feeling of fullness slowly spreading throughout her body, and the hunger she had felt for many days was finally relieved.
Before she could recover from this rare moment of satisfaction, her father, reeking of alcohol, staggered forward with a strange smile on his face and asked, "Do you know where the meat for dumplings comes from?"
"If I didn't buy it, did you cut off my own flesh to feed me?" Su Su replied coldly.
Su's father was taken aback at first, then burst into a chilling burst of maniacal laughter.
"Hahaha! Of course not. This meat... it's your brother's meat!"
His laughter grew even more unrestrained, his face contorted with wrinkles, as he continued to shout, "Didn't you notice your brother is missing? You can eat his flesh now! Hahahaha!"
Su Su sat there quietly, her composure terrifying: "Is that so?"
"If you don't believe me, go to the kitchen and see, the bones are still cooking there!"
Su's father thought Su Su had already believed him, and his laughter became even more unrestrained. The ear-piercing laughter echoed in the small room, making people's scalps tingle.
"Since Dad cooked my younger brother, then Dad should cut off some of his own flesh to make dumplings too!"
The next second, she suddenly overturned the table, scattering the bowls and chopsticks all over the floor.
She rushed into the kitchen like a madwoman, grabbed a large, gleaming cleaver, and turned to pounce on Su's father.
Father Su stared in horror, instinctively raising his hand to defend himself. The sharp blade instantly sliced through his arm, blood gushing out. He screamed and turned to run wildly toward the door.
With red eyes, Su Su, like a maddened little beast, relentlessly pursued him. With a swift motion, she slashed at her father's foot, causing him to fall to the ground, writhing in pain.
The neighbor uncle who came out to check after hearing the noise was stunned by the bloody scene before him. He rushed forward, grabbed Su Su, took the kitchen knife away, and stopped her crazy behavior.
Meanwhile, other neighbors frantically called the police.
Su Su dropped the knife, and amidst her father's scolding, she covered her face with her hands, tears streaming down her face: "Brother, brother, sob sob sob. Dad said he cooked my brother and made him into dumplings for me to eat."
At this point, she seemed to feel a churning in her stomach, covered her mouth, and hunched over, looking as if she was about to vomit.
All eyes turned to Su's father, who panicked and retreated while shouting that he was innocent.
"I was just joking with her."
"But my little brother is gone, gone! Dad said if you don't believe me, you can go check in the kitchen, waaaaaah!"
Su Su cried until she was hoarse, her heart filled with grievances and fear surging like a tidal wave.
Soon, sirens pierced the night sky as police arrived quickly.
They took Su Su, her father, and several neighbors who witnessed the incident back to the police station for investigation.
From beginning to end, Su Su's tears flowed uncontrollably, but even as she sobbed, she still clearly recounted the whole story.
The policewoman tenderly embraced Su Su, gently comforting her and trying to calm her agitated emotions.
Not long after, a busy Su's mother rushed to the police station. Her hair was disheveled, and her expression was one of exhaustion and anxiety; she had clearly run all the way there.
Police tests on the dumpling filling revealed that it was just ordinary pork with no abnormalities.
Su's mother quickly explained that the family was in dire financial straits and could not make ends meet. In order to keep their children alive, they had no choice but to temporarily send their younger brother to live with relatives.
The meat used for dumplings and the gifts received at home were all sent by relatives out of concern; there was no absurd or horrifying story like the father's claim of killing his son and cooking his flesh.
With her mother's patient and sincere explanations, and the policewoman's gentle guidance, Su Su's tense nerves finally relaxed, and she accepted the fact.
But the trouble wasn't over yet. Although Su's father's words were just drunken ramblings, he was indeed genuinely injured.
His family was dirt poor and couldn't afford to take him to the hospital, so they had to let him stay at home to recover.
Unexpectedly, as soon as Su's father lay down on the bed, he started to throw a tantrum, shouting that Su Su would pay the price and threatening to lock her up in the police station and make her go to jail.
Su's mother looked helpless; she had a ton of work to do and simply didn't have time to deal with this.
Besides, if Su Su were to be sent in, who would take care of Su's father, who was injured and ill?
After careful consideration, Su Su returned home safely.
As soon as Su Su entered the house, she saw her mother busying herself, serving tea and water, and taking good care of her father.
Seeing her father's smug and contented expression, Su Su couldn't help but roll her eyes inwardly, wondering when this would ever end.
If it weren't for the fact that her soul was divided and she wanted to know her mother's choice, Su Su would have wanted to chop her father into pieces and feed him to the dogs.
Anyway, even if he didn't leave the house for a year or two, we still wouldn't know whether he was alive or dead.
It would be best to kill this man.
No use at all.
Su's mother dropped out of high school and met Su's father while working.
Because her father treated her to a bowl of snail rice noodles, her mother felt that marrying him meant he would cherish her.
Anyway, Su's mother had five sisters but no brothers, so there were plenty of girls in her family. No one would care if Su's mother wanted to get married.
So Su's mother worked hard to manage this little family.
She works tirelessly every day to earn money.
Meanwhile, Su's father just lazed around at home, playing video games all day long.
