Tavern of the Spear: Desire for Pleasure

Chapter 109: Another Opportunity?

Chapter 109: Another Opportunity?

Meanwhile, Cheng Yu, Bai Yu, and Xing Luo had quietly slipped out of the tribe and arrived at a small river on its edge. Although it was late at night, the moonlight shimmered on the water, but the reflections in the water remained blurry. However, this was no problem for Cheng Yu. As a wolf-beastman, his night vision far surpassed that of ordinary people, and the faint moonlight was enough for him to see the fish swimming in the water.

"There are quite a lot of fish here." Xinglu squatted by the river, watching the schools of fish swimming around in the water with curiosity.

“Of course, this is the territory of the White Dragon Tribe,” Cheng Yu said. “They will definitely protect the ecological environment here. Besides, if this place wasn’t rich in resources, why would these white dragons consider it their territory?”

"Then what are we waiting for?" Bai Yu asked eagerly. "Let's start catching fish!"

After saying that, he rolled up his sleeves and prepared to go into the water.

“Wait,” Cheng Yu stopped him, “Let’s use a harpoon instead, it’s more efficient.”

As he spoke, he took out several sharpened wooden sticks from his storage bag and handed them to Bai Yu and Xing Luo.

"This is a harpoon? Isn't this just a wooden spear? We all use spears to catch fish, are you sure you're not joking?" Xingluo took the stick and asked curiously.

"Keke~ Just think of it as a harpoon. After all, the tools here are a bit rudimentary, but it's better than nothing," Cheng Yu said somewhat awkwardly. "Using this to catch fish is much more convenient than catching them with your bare hands."

"A harpoon?" Bai Yu looked at the wooden stick in his hand, then at the fish in the river, and then turned to Cheng Yu with a skeptical look. "Can this thing really catch fish?"

"Why don't you try and see?" Cheng Yu smiled and threw the harpoon in his hand first.

With a "plop," the harpoon accurately struck a swimming fish.

"Wow! We really caught it!" Xingluo exclaimed excitedly.

"See? I didn't lie to you, did I?" Cheng Yu said smugly.

"Impressive!" Bai Yu gave a thumbs up. "I underestimated this simple tool. Looks like I'll have to give it a try!"

As he spoke, he imitated Cheng Yu and threw the harpoon in his hand.

"Pfft!"

"Oh no, I didn't get it!" Bai Yu said, somewhat annoyed.

"Don't be discouraged," Cheng Yu encouraged, "just try a few more times."

So the three of them began their fishing business by the river.

Under Cheng Yu's guidance, Bai Yu and Xing Luo quickly mastered the skills of using a harpoon. In less than half an hour, they caught more than a dozen plump fish, enough for the three of them to have a hearty meal.

"Alright, that was a good day," Cheng Yu said, patting the water droplets off his hands. "Let's go back."

"Okay!" Bai Yu and Xing Luo nodded, carrying the wooden bucket full of fish, and followed Cheng Yu back to the White Dragon leader's tent.

Since the White Dragon leader had moved to another residence, and his maids and guards had also left the tent, Cheng Yu and his group did not encounter any obstacles and returned to the tent smoothly.

"What should we do with these fish?" Xinglu asked, looking at the lively fish jumping around in the wooden bucket.

“Of course we’ll grill it!” Cheng Yu said. “I even brought the seasonings.”

As he spoke, he took out some bottles and jars from his storage bag, which contained all sorts of seasonings.

"Wow! You're really well-prepared!" Xingluo exclaimed in surprise.

“Of course,” Cheng Yu smiled smugly, “I came prepared.”

Under Cheng Yu's direction, the three began to prepare the fish. They gutted and cleaned the fish, then skewered them with wooden sticks and roasted them over the campfire in the center of the tent.

"Zizzizi..."

The fish, grilled over flames, emitted an enticing aroma that made one's mouth water.

"It smells so good!" Xinglu couldn't help but swallow. "When can we eat it?"

"Almost there," Cheng Yu said while flipping the grilled fish. "Just a little longer and it'll be ready."

While waiting for the grilled fish, the three of them started chatting again.

"When do you think this dragon egg will hatch?" Xinglu asked, pointing to the huge dragon egg in the corner of the tent.

“I don’t know,” Cheng Yu shook his head, “but I have a feeling that this dragon egg is not simple.”

"How so?" Bai Yu asked.

“Look,” Cheng Yu analyzed, “this dragon egg is a sacred object of the White Dragon Tribe, and it is related to the fate of the entire world. It is definitely not an ordinary dragon egg.”

"Then tell me, what kind of dragon will it hatch?" Xingluo asked curiously.

“Well… I don’t know,” Cheng Yu said. “However, no matter what kind of dragon it hatches, we have to be careful.”

“Hmm,” Bai Yu nodded, “After all, we still don’t know whether this dragon egg is friend or foe.”

“Oh, right,” Cheng Yu suddenly remembered something, “shouldn’t we give this dragon egg a name?”

"Give it a name?" Xingluo was taken aback. "Why do we need to name it?"

“It’s easier to call it that way,” Cheng Yu said. “We can’t keep calling it ‘dragon egg’ all the time, can we?”

"Hmm...that seems to make sense," Xinglu stroked his chin. "So, what do you think we should call it?"

"How about calling it... Little White?" Bai Yu suggested.

"Xiao Bai?" Cheng Yu and Xing Luo rolled their eyes simultaneously. "Isn't that too cliché?"

"What's it called?" Bai Yu asked.

"How about calling it... Little Gold?" Cheng Yu said. "Look at how shiny it is, calling it Little Gold would be quite fitting."

"Little Gold? You might as well call him Little White!" Xinglu complained.

"Then what should we call it?" Cheng Yu asked.

"I...I don't know either," Xingluo scratched his head. "How about we wait until it hatches before naming it?"

“Okay,” Cheng Yu nodded, “there’s no rush anyway.”

"Alright, alright, stop worrying about the name," Bai Yu said. "The fish is almost done grilling, let's get ready to eat!"

"Okay!" Cheng Yu and Xing Luo nodded and turned their attention to the grilled fish.

"Zizzizi..."

The fish, grilled over the flames, has turned golden and crispy, emitting an enticing aroma.

"It's ready to eat!" Cheng Yu announced.

The three of them couldn't wait to pick up the grilled fish and start enjoying it.

"Mmm! Delicious!" Xingluo exclaimed between bites. "Chengyu, your cooking is really good!"

“Of course,” Cheng Yu smiled smugly, “I’ve been grilling fish since I was a kid.”

"Here, have some more," Bai Yu handed a grilled fish to Xing Luo. "Don't be shy."

"Thank you!" Xingluo took the grilled fish and continued to eat with great enthusiasm.

The three of them ate grilled fish and chatted, creating a very harmonious atmosphere.

“By the way,” Cheng Yu suddenly said, “shouldn’t we pay a visit to the White Dragon Leader tomorrow?”

"Why are you visiting him?" Bai Yu asked.

“We did stay in his tent after all,” Cheng Yu said. “We should at least say hello, right? Although our attitude was pretty bad at the time, I don’t think I’m that kind of person. We still need to leave a good impression on them, otherwise it wouldn’t be good if they treated us as enemies later. It’s just too much trouble.”

“Hmm…that makes sense,” Bai Yu nodded. “Let’s go tomorrow then.”

“However, I always felt that the white dragon leader was a bit strange,” Xingluo said. “Don’t you guys feel the same way?”

"Something's off?" Cheng Yu and Bai Yu exchanged a glance. "What do you mean?"

“I can’t quite put my finger on it,” Xinglu shook her head, “I just feel like… he’s hiding something from us.”

"Hide something?" Cheng Yu frowned. "What could he possibly hide from us?"

“I don’t know,” Xingluo said, “but I have a feeling that he’s hiding something from us.”

“Don’t overthink it,” Cheng Yu said. “Maybe he just doesn’t like strangers.”

“I hope so,” Xingluo said.

"Alright, let's not think about these things anymore," Cheng Yu said. "Let's finish eating quickly and then rest. We have a lot of things to do tomorrow."

"Mm!" Bai Yu and Xing Luo nodded and continued eating their fish.

After the three finished eating the grilled fish, they rested in the tent for a while.

“It’s getting late,” Cheng Yu said, glancing at the sky outside. “We should go to sleep.”

"Okay," Bai Yu nodded. "Good night."

"Good night," Xingluo said.

The three of them found a place to lie down and quickly fell asleep.

Meanwhile, at the home of the other guard, the young white dragon beastman who had once doubted Cheng Yu and his companions' identities finally, after much difficulty, found the leader of the White Dragon tribe. He stared at the simple guard's quarters, his eyes filled with disbelief. Because his father was a tribal elder, he had a fairly close relationship with the leader. He had witnessed the leader's authority and grandeur firsthand, yet now, the leader was living in the home of an ordinary guard—this utterly baffled him.

"Chief, what... what are you doing here?" the young white dragon orc couldn't help but ask. "Why aren't you staying in your tent?"

Upon hearing this, the chieftain's already gloomy face darkened even further. He knew, of course, that the young white dragon beastman before him was the elder's son, but he still couldn't help but be furious. Didn't this guy realize he'd been forced to come here? And yet, he insisted on rubbing salt into his wounds! The reason he chose to stay at a lowly guard's house instead of one of the elders' was simply to avoid humiliation! After all, how could the dignified chieftain of the White Dragon tribe maintain his standing in the tribe if word got out that he'd been forced to give up his tent by a few outsiders?

The leader glared fiercely at the young white dragon orc and said in a low voice, "Don't tell anyone about what happened today! Don't tell anyone I stayed here overnight!"

Although the young white dragon orc didn't quite understand why his leader was so angry, he still obediently nodded: "Yes, leader, I promise I won't tell anyone."

"Hmm." The leader's expression softened slightly. "You came to see me, is there something you need?"

"Chief, I encountered three very suspicious fellows today!" The young white dragon orc, remembering his business, quickly said, "They claimed to be your guests, but they seemed rather furtive and didn't look like good people at all!"

He recounted the events that had transpired to the leader in detail, adding his own embellishments and speculations.

“I have already told my father about this,” the young white dragon orc continued. “My father said he is already trying to figure out a solution.”

"What?!" The chieftain was stunned into silence, his mouth agape, wide enough to fit a dragon egg. "You... what did you say? Your father is already handling it?"

“Yes, Chief,” the young white dragon orc nodded. “Don’t worry, my father will definitely capture those three and interrogate them thoroughly!”

"Foolish!" The leader slapped his thigh and roared in exasperation, "You...you are simply...foolish!"
