Chapter 19 Life and Death Battle
Chapter 19 Life and Death Battle
The final round of the 17-18 Championship season.
Burton Athletic plays Blackburn Rovers away from home.
"Will! Put the beer away!"
"This is their home turf! I don't know if you'll get kicked out!"
Rumors about Li Yanqing and Pamo were flying everywhere, but it didn't seem to affect him at all. He was still shouting at the stands.
"Don't worry, Li!"
"I won't spill it recklessly; I'll show that traitor what we're made of!"
"We'll definitely stay in the league!"
Will knew the truth, so he was now watching with amusement.
The beer brought this time was mainly intended to target Palmer and Kevin, not to harm the players.
Meanwhile, Palmo, wearing a black hat, was hiding in a corner of the coach's bench.
He remained unfazed by accusations of being a "traitor."
What finally broke his composure was yesterday's sudden and explosive scandal.
What kind of nonsense are they spouting?
He wanted to explain, but unfortunately Blackburn didn't trust him either.
In the end, not only did he gain the label of "traitor" for no reason, but he also couldn't continue doing what Kevin had asked him to do.
Looking at the Burton team's coaching bench with a gloomy expression, he knew that all of this was still related to Li Yanqing.
But that's okay, once the game starts, the head coach will know that the information he provided is correct.
If they win this game, that Chinese guy will realize just how wrong it was to kick him out of the team!
What made him feel slightly uneasy was that only the Chinese man was standing on the opposing coaching bench.
Chris, however, had disappeared.
How could that extremely enthusiastic assistant coach be absent from this crucial relegation battle?
Chris, of course, would be there.
He was in the private room, sitting next to Robinson and Kevin.
Robinson was extremely angry about the scandal that broke yesterday.
One is a young head coach he's willing to give opportunities to, and the other is a core player who has been earning the team's top salary all along!
Was the feud between these two just an act?
Chris, standing to the side, couldn't stop sneering. He wondered what the chairman would think if he knew that this was Kevin's idea.
"Mr. Chairman, this matter is very serious."
"Whoever did this must get out of the club!"
Chris's indignant words made Kevin break out in a cold sweat.
He is much smarter than Palmer.
Although I don't know why the person in the photo isn't me, but Li Yanqing.
But he knew it must be photoshopped; the other party definitely had photos of him and Palmer sitting there.
If he continues to provoke Robinson, he'll be finished once things are exposed.
He really wanted to call Miss Maggie to ask what was going on, but she was out of service all day.
This made him feel increasingly uneasy.
"No, perhaps there's another possibility?"
Kevin's words surprised Robinson a little.
Kevin has always been dissatisfied with Li Yanqing's attitude, while Chris highly regards him.
Have these two people's attitudes reversed today?
......
Game start.
Burton Athletic's players are in decent form, and most of them are in good shape.
Li Yanqing had already confiscated all their cell phones and computers yesterday and made them all rest at the club.
So they were unaware that the media had already been in an uproar.
This is a do-or-die battle, and no matter what happens off the field, Li Yanqing doesn't want to affect his players.
Winning the game is the most important thing!
As for Blackburn, they're not in bad shape either.
It was a life-or-death battle, and everyone was giving it their all.
From the very beginning, the two sides engaged in a fierce battle.
The smell of gunpowder was very strong.
Nobody cared about accumulating red cards and being suspended; as long as they didn't have any cards, they defended with the most aggressive tactics.
The referee's calls in this game were quite lenient; he tolerated all fouls except for the most obvious ones.
This situation looks more like a brawl than a game.
In less than ten minutes, the two sides had already engaged in two small-scale clashes.
"It seems their strategy is the same as ours..."
Li Yanqing stroked his chin. In the final match, neither side intended to hold back.
For both coaches, whoever gets relegated will lose their job; there's no point in saving face.
The good news is that the opposing team didn't heed Palmer's advice and didn't have strong control over their weakest area, the midfield.
My strategy worked.
"Push forward, push forward whenever you have the chance!"
"Foul them the moment they lose possession!"
Li Yanqing directed his team members, saying that since the opponent hadn't focused their defenses on this area, there was still a chance.
Unfortunately, this attack was not very effective, because Jami and Ogradi, who were the core of the attack, were still sitting on the bench.
The reinstated striker, Beveren, also performed poorly; after such a long hiatus, he seems unable to find his form.
They were getting increasingly frustrated by the opposing defenders' repeated sliding tackles.
Soon, right winger Miller lost possession of the ball due to a fierce tackle from the opponent.
Miller, equally hot-tempered, turned around and grabbed the opponent's shirt, causing the player to lose his balance and fall to the ground.
The referee made no call, a scene that has occurred many times in the game.
But the furious Blackburn players were not having it, having squandered so many good chances before.
The player who had been pulled to the ground got up, his face contorted with rage, and confronted Miller head-on, neither giving an inch.
The players from both sides gathered nearby and shoved each other.
The situation got a little out of control for a moment.
The referee quickly ran over and warned the players who were about to cause trouble.
"Quinn! Don't go and join the fun!"
"He didn't blow the whistle!"
"Continue the attack!"
Li Yanqing called out to Quinn, who was about to join them, making the latter realize what was going on.
Although the scene was chaotic, the referee did not stop the game!
Seeing the conflict break out, the opposing goalkeeper took the opportunity to run to the goal for a drink of water, leaving the goal wide open!
So, the ball, which had been ignored, suddenly flew up and smashed straight into the opponent's goal!
A crisp whistle left the referee and the arguing players on the field completely bewildered.
The most bewildered was the goalkeeper, who looked completely innocent and glanced around.
The water bottle hasn't been put down yet!
Who blew the whistle?
The referee looked around, and the last linesman's voice came through the walkie-talkie.
Basically, there was no timeout, the ball went in, and you weren't open, so he called a foul.
The goal is valid!
