Current time: 11 years before the Korean War, June 5, 1975, before the Great Air Disaster.
Bright sunlight streamed into the verdant courtyard, where the sound of flowing water could be clearly heard. Carp swam in the pond, and under the shady eaves nearby, a refined and beautiful brown-haired woman held a tiny infant in her arms, smiling as she admired the scenery, speaking softly to the child in her hands:
"Xiao Ming, when you grow up, you must become a top person in society. You can't disgrace the Gangfeng surname..."
The woman gently rocked the child in her arms, her heart filled with expectations for the child named Gang Fengming, and her eyes brimming with maternal love.
Just as the atmosphere around them was becoming warm and cozy, a black-haired man with a cold expression, carrying a work briefcase, wearing glasses, dressed in a blue embroidered kimono, walked towards the entrance of the courtyard.
The black-haired man stared expressionlessly at the brown-haired woman holding the child. He stepped forward and looked down at her coldly. The child in the woman's arms made the atmosphere serious.
"Orihime, I'm back! Oh, and Xiaoming is here too."
The man spoke expressionlessly, then picked up the child from the woman's arms, turned him towards the sun in the center of the courtyard, and gazed deeply at him. The child being held also looked back at him.
The child and the man stared into each other's dark eyes. Then the man forced a smile, and the child copied him, making the same strange smile. The scene was filled with awkwardness.
"Oh dear, it seems he really likes you, but Wu Yilang, don't corrupt the child!"
The woman smiled and spoke. Seeing this, the man turned around, nodded, then handed the child back to the woman and asked her:
"Orihime, has the child been named yet?"
"Yes, Wu Yilang."
"Damn it, what a pity. Oh well, what should we name the child?"
Upon learning that the child had already been named, the father, Takeichiro, looked dejected, but still asked his wife.
"Let's call it... Ming, Gangfeng Ming, which means to remember, to remember every moment of his victory."
The man was overjoyed upon hearing the child's name, but his expression remained stiff.
“Kangfeng Ming, what a nice name,” Wu Yilang said softly.
The woman felt a warmth in her heart as she looked at the man's smile.
"I hope he can be as strong as you, and that his future will be smooth sailing, Takeichiro," the woman said.
"After all... a weakling like that... would find it difficult to stay in the current powerful Okayamine family..."
At this point, a hint of disappointment flashed in the woman's eyes, but she looked firmly at the child in her arms, nodded and smiled, and said no more.
The man gently stroked his child's hair, his face expressionless, but his eyes were filled with anticipation and love for his child.
The courtyard was filled with the warmth of family, and the environment became harmonious. Ming was also awakened by the sound of his parents talking.
'Where...is this? I remember...wasn't I dead?'
Ming, who had just woken up, was puzzled. His thoughts drifted back to two months ago, to Earth in the original world. On the street, Ming was walking and reading a Date A Live novel. When he came across the part where Shido had added another member to his harem, Ming started gritting his teeth, almost breaking one of his back teeth.
"Damn it, Itsuka Shido! Why am I the one with a girlfriend? Is it because I don't call Takamiya Mio 'Mom'?"
Ming muttered to himself with tears in his eyes, finally biting down on one of his back teeth until it broke. He had recently come to a new high school and was ostracized by his classmates because of his appearance. In addition, because of his excellent academic performance, no one liked Ming. He walked sadly down the street step by step.
Just as she put down her phone, still feeling envious of Shido, her eyes caught a glimpse of a small white cat standing blankly on the road ahead where there were cars.
Seeing this, Ming, a cat lover, thought of taking the kitten to the other side of the road when the light turned green. He was thinking about it and doing it at the same time.
An out-of-control truck suddenly rushed over here. Ming, who had just chased the cat to the other side of the road, was unable to dodge in time and was hit straight on the side, flying backward and crashing to the ground.
Note: When a normal person is hit by a truck, they don't even have a chance to think before they lose consciousness and die. As model youths of the new era, we must be scientific; there is no such thing as consciousness. In the final moments, it's just a hallucination. So, it's like closing your eyes and opening them again—you've traveled through time. Do you understand?
Then, with a blink of an eye, he woke up to this scene and was given a new name—Okamine Mei, the only son of Okamine Takeichiro, the first son of the Okamine family.
Ming had just gleaned this information from his parents' snippets of conversation. For some reason, he seemed to have been born in Japan, since his parents spoke Japanese. However, because he had been extremely fond of Japanese anime during his lifetime, he could easily understand most of the Japanese, making it easy for him to gather information from their conversation.
Just as Ming was still thinking about it, his mother picked him up, put him on the bed, and then walked away and went out the door.
Ming, who had just been put down, didn't cry or make a fuss after his parents left. He just lay flat on the spot. Ming tried to reach out to summon the system, but... such things only exist in novels. Systems don't exist at all.
Seeing that gesturing for a long time was useless, Mingbian went to sleep. For him, who was now an infant, nothing was more important than sleeping. He knew that there was no future if he didn't sleep, so he closed his eyes and fell asleep.
After Ming fell asleep, in the courtyard of Gangfeng's house.
Akira's father, Takeichiro, and mother, Orihime, stood side by side under the eaves, watching the carp in the pond. They couldn't help but recall the harrowing day of Akira's birth, and began to sigh:
"Wu Yilang, do you still remember the day Ming was born?"
"Of course I remember. At that moment, our child transcended... death... and allowed me to stop worrying about my career and focus on building a strong family."
Wu Yilang's voice was very soft, as if he was afraid of waking Ming, who was fast asleep behind him, and then he began to recall as he spoke.
That was three months ago, when Ming was born. In a high-end hospital, the Gangfeng couple were immersed in the joy of having a son and how to raise him to be the next head of the Gangfeng family.
But the doctor brought me news that I couldn't accept—Ming had no heartbeat and was a stillborn baby!
Upon hearing the news, Orihime collapsed to the ground, sobbing uncontrollably. Takeichiro clenched his fists, refusing to believe it. He begged the doctor to examine him again, but the doctor shook his head helplessly.
However, just when they were about to give up and were about to send our child to the morgue for cremation, perhaps... it was because of our prayers that the gods saw them, and that's why a miracle happened.
A sweet cry of a baby came from the car on its way to the morgue. At that moment, we experienced a feeling we had never felt before, not from taking more rights from indifferent "relatives" or anything like that.
This was an unprecedented joy of regaining what was lost. At that moment, I vowed that I would not allow Ming, this living miracle, to suffer any harm, nor would I allow the treasure we have gained in this world to disappear...
The flashback ended there. Takeichiro, with his expressionless face, once again gave his wife Orihime a forced yet affectionate smile.
Orihime nodded and said to Takeichiro:
"Wu Yilang, let's work together to support our child's future! Even if his life is ordinary, we will still love him!"
"Yes, I know, Orihime! But Ming will definitely be an excellent child, because she is our child..."
Wu Yilang answered, his words overflowing with familial affection. The couple smiled at each other and said no more.
Just as the Gangfeng couple made up their minds, the gears of fate quietly began to turn.
