Chapter 402: An Unconcealable Smile
Chapter 402: An Unconcealable Smile
Looking at the tightly closed door, Yu Huailin frowned even more deeply, but he didn't say anything and just pushed the door open.
Song Miqiu originally wanted to sit back slightly on the bed, but because of the movement of the person behind her, her brows furrowed again.
"Is there anything else?"
"We really can't talk about this; it's all just a misunderstanding."
Misunderstand?
It might be a misunderstanding once or twice, but if it happens too often, no one will believe it.
The main problem is that the other person even came over to provoke her, which she really couldn't stand.
However, she had already decided not to focus all her attention on Yu Huailin anymore, so there was no need for her to listen to so many explanations.
Song Miqiu calmly withdrew his gaze, looking ahead with increasing composure, before finally turning his attention to the seat beside him.
"I've had a lot to do today, and I'm already tired."
"Just a moment, I'll go out after I finish speaking."
Knowing that he wouldn't leave unless he said it, Song Miqiu could only rest her chin on her hand and look at him with her eyes slightly lowered.
Finally having a chance to explain, Yu Huailin placed the letter on the table.
"It was because Liuli's stepfather had something to give me that I met with him, took the thing, and then left."
"Uh-huh."
Hearing this perfunctory response, I suddenly looked up, only to find that the person was already resting their chin on their hand, and those bright eyes had closed at some point.
Yu Huailin didn't know if she had heard what she had just said again and was about to make a move, when she heard another sigh.
"Are you done talking? Then I should be able to rest now. Goodnight, don't bother coming back."
"You really heard what happened again?"
Song Miqiu yawned helplessly, then picked up the letter that was placed beside him and stuffed it back into Yu Huailin's arms.
"I'm not interested in your stuff, and I'm so sleepy I'm about to go to sleep."
"you……"
Seeing her nonchalant expression, Yu Huailin couldn't utter the words he had prepared, and could only stare at her blankly.
Song Miqiu ignored that gaze, indifferently looked away, turned to the side and let out an even more helpless sigh, then took off her clothes.
Unexpectedly, she was so inconsiderate. Yu Huailin stood there dumbfounded, clearly wanting to say something more, but when he came to his senses, he found that he had been thrown out the door without even realizing it.
Looking at the tightly closed door, he raised his hand but then withdrew it, staring intently at the figure lying down on the bed in the firelight.
Why is it like this?
Hasn't he made himself clear enough?
Unable to get any answers, Yu Huailin suddenly clenched his long, slender hands hanging at his sides, his neatly manicured nails digging into his palms before he came back to his senses.
He turned and glanced in one direction before turning his gaze away and slowly walking into the study.
But he didn't close the door. Instead, he tapped the table rhythmically with his scarlet fingers until the door was closed and there was no wind. Then he carefully wiped the heavy stains off the table with a handkerchief.
"Has anything else happened today?"
After waiting for a while without hearing a sound, Yu Huailin raised his eyebrows in dissatisfaction.
Just as he was about to speak, the guard kneeling on the ground finally made a sound.
"Today I encountered a bullied eunuch in the palace and helped him treat his injuries."
"Then he went to a restaurant with Physician Ming for a meal."
The guard was unsure how to proceed, so he paused slightly and even cautiously glanced at Yu Huailin before quickly looking away.
"continue."
"Then I saw the master and that glass girl enter the room, and they devoured all the dishes on the table with great appetite."
There's nothing wrong with any of that, so why the attitude when you come back?
Yu Huailin had not yet realized that something was wrong; his handsome brows were furrowed and remained so for a long time.
Anwei noticed his agitated aura. She didn't want to interfere in her master's affairs, but she spoke up anyway so that they could catch their breath.
"From an angle that the master couldn't see, that girl Liuli showed a strange smile several times."
"What is a strange smile? If you can't speak properly, I don't mind changing it."
The guard didn't know how to explain, so he could only raise his head and imitate Liuli's appearance, revealing that provocative smile.
Before Yu Huailin could react, he slammed his hand on the table, causing cracks to appear on the solid surface.
"It seems I've been too lenient with you lately, that's why you dare to show such an expression."
"Master, Master, this is the expression on that girl Liuli's face."
The guard lowered his head, nervously watching the ground, fearing that this blow would kill him.
Upon hearing his words, Yu Huailin frowned deeply, suddenly recalling his own reaction earlier, and felt even more agitated.
But then came panic; her already fair face grew even paler, completely devoid of color.
"No wonder he wouldn't listen to any explanations these past few days. If I were treated like that, I'm afraid that person would no longer exist."
"If you are so angered, how can you calm down?"
Upon hearing his words, the guard was stunned for a moment, then stood frozen in place.
After all, when faced with this kind of expression, their approach would probably only suit Huailin's appearance; there were no other solutions.
But he was worried that there was nothing he could do and that he would anger his master again, so he could only maintain his original posture, nervously looking at the ground and not daring to say a word.
Yu Huailin knew that this person had no experience in this area, so he waved his hand to let him leave.
Knowing they had escaped, the guards didn't dare hesitate for a moment and rushed out immediately.
Even so, he still made sure to close the door, fearing that others might further anger his master.
The next day.
The two sat at the table enjoying their breakfast, but their eyes never met.
With such a small table, how could anyone not notice such a subtle movement?
Neither of them revealed the reason, and naturally, no one dared to speak up. They were careful not to make a sound and risk drawing their anger upon themselves.
The group maintained their composure remarkably well and actually finished their breakfast.
They thought this situation wouldn't last long, but it continued until the third day, which made them afraid to eat out and try to avoid the two of them.
Yu Huailin was very dissatisfied with this situation and tried to speak several times, but Song Miqiu interrupted him first.
"I have something to do today and will be back late."
"Does Mother need me to pick her up?"
Song Miqiu waved to his dutiful eldest son and then got into the carriage that was already waiting at the door.
Once the figure had completely disappeared, Yu Huailin turned away and walked back to his study.
Even though he was being careful, someone still came over on purpose.
Yu Huailin heard light footsteps nearby, looked up and saw a figure peeking furtively into the window but unwilling to come in.
