Chapter 12 Shanikles, Shanikles. Shanikles!
Chapter 12 Shanikles, Shanikles. Shanikles!
Over the next few days, she really went through every method she could think of.
The gladiatorial arena is no good; she'd be throwing her life away there.
Stealing is out of the question; she still has some principles. But it's true that she doesn't know how to steal.
She couldn't work under the table; she was afraid that before she could even earn enough for Shanks, it would be dismantled and sold off until not even a single part was left.
Making money in the ordinary way wasn't enough, it wasn't fast enough. By the time she finally scraped together the money, her body would have long since rotted in the junkyard and become nothing more than scrap metal.
Finally, she came to a very harsh, but very realistic, conclusion.
Dignity and face cannot repair the body.
Survival is the priority.
She needs to go to Zhen Tianzun to borrow money.
-
Zhen Tianzun was dealing with the things brought back from the arena, and didn't even look up when he heard her coming.
"What did you find out this time?"
The vector stood there, silent for two seconds.
"I've been thinking about this for a few days, and I've realized I have a very real problem I want to talk to you about."
Zhen Tianzun then looked up at her.
"I'll probably have to swallow my pride and ask you for a loan of Shanks."
Zhen Tianzun sneered, "So you finally realized you don't have Shaknife?"
"I've got it." The vector was calm. "Actually, I originally wanted to salvage my dignity through self-reliance. But then I realized that dignity can't repair a machine."
"What are you going to use to pay me back? In your current state, you wouldn't even be worth a few spare parts."
"Keep it on my tab, use it to offset wages, or pay it back later. Whatever you want me to do after that, as long as it's not something stupid or a death sentence, I can use it to offset wages. In short, it's not free. Just think of me as a debt-collecting machine."
Zhen Tianzun finally turned around completely to face her, stood up, and looked down at her.
"Who did you find out about?"
"Red Spider".
Zhen Tianzun paused noticeably, remained silent for two seconds, and his eyebrows twitched almost imperceptibly.
He originally thought she would only find some scraps of information about gray channels, but he didn't expect that this broken machine would actually uncover the channels.
It was still Red Spider, who was basically the chief scientist of Qingqiu City.
"You really dare to investigate," he finally spoke, his tone unreadable. "Do you even know what level of agent he is?"
The thought of this gave her a headache. She had checked the other party's official information: "Now I know a little bit. That's why I came to borrow money, instead of just banging on their door like a madwoman."
She paused, then added, "I'll use the money you're willing to cover for my entire repair. As long as it's enough for me to stand in front of Red Spider without being kicked out on the spot, it's fine."
Zhen Tianzun looked at her and let out a low, short chuckle.
"I can give you some money first. Enough for you to knock on doors."
"Whether you can get him to take your order later is up to you."
Yin Xiang breathed a sigh of relief. This loan from Shanks was crucial to her, and thankfully she had secured it.
Zhen Tianzun didn't say anything more, and raised his hand to make two strokes on the end of his arm.
The next second, a notification popped up on Vector's own terminal indicating that the account had been credited.
She glanced at the number, and the whole machine fell silent.
"...Two hundred thousand?"
She looked up at Zhen Tianzun, her gaze reflecting a rare, genuine shock: "You can just casually pull out two hundred thousand?"
This guy is a rich guy!
Zhen Tianzun glanced at her, his tone so calm it was almost sarcastic.
"Otherwise what?"
He paused, then thought her question was stupid: "Do you think I work in the arena every day for nothing?"
"I suddenly understand why so many people want to follow you." Vector sincerely remarked.
Zhen Tianzun's eye twitched, and he replied calmly, "The fact that you're only realizing this now shows that your brain module is indeed not very good."
The vector was momentarily choked.
She reopened the terminal, and the 200,000 yuan that had just been deposited was still displayed at the top of the balance column, shining brightly.
She stared for two seconds, then swallowed the shock back down and turned to go back and start looking through the documents she had previously compiled.
Finding the name doesn't mean the door is open.
Red Spider has her own circle, her own connections, and her own rules for screening people. Someone like her, with an unknown background and a machine so broken it could practically go straight to the scrap yard, would most likely be thrown out as trouble even if she managed to get to the door.
She first needs to know what kind of ability she has to stand before him. How many Shaniks will it take for her to at least see Starscream for the first time?
She scrolled down the terminal projection interface page by page, and dragged out and listed the gray channels, repair lists, parts leaked from the arena, and several old names related to high-level modification technicians.
The more I looked at her, the heavier my heart felt.
With those 200,000 yuan, she finally bought a ticket to move forward, and there was no second one to sell.
First, the vector tool re-filtered all the information it had previously found about spiders.
There's not much truly useful content.
This kind of business couldn't possibly have a public address; she could only find channels by following a few scattered but recurring clues.
Red Spider doesn't see strangers. If you want to find him, either someone can guide you, or you can hand in the order first.
The machines that can screen orders for him are not cheap.
Yin Vector stared at those gray channels for a long time before clicking on one of them.
She is not in a position to choose.
She sent a message to the other party, briefly explaining the situation in slang, and asked if she could pass on a message.
The other party didn't reply until the next day.
"Submitting this kind of order is pointless; the budget is insufficient, the form is too flimsy, and there's no guarantee. Do you expect me to take the blame for you?"
Yin Vector stared at the line of text for a few seconds, then gritted his teeth and transferred five thousand shale coins to the other party through the one-way transfer channel.
The other party received the payment almost immediately.
She quickly replied, "I won't buy your guarantee, I'll just buy you speaking up for me once."
There was a few seconds of silence on the other end, and when they came back, their tone was indeed less harsh.
"I can only take you there. The rest is up to you."
Immediately afterwards, a string of addresses and timestamps appeared in the terminal.
The vector was immediately placed at the top, and the map location was then brought up.
A small place on the outskirts of Qingqiu City.
The thread that had been taut in her heart for so long finally loosened very slightly.
She finally stopped going around in circles.
After handling it, she went downstairs and quickly explained the situation to Zhen Tianzun. After a brief explanation, she summarized:
"So the three of us will go to that address in Qingqiu City sometime in the future."
Perhaps Zhen Tianzun hadn't expected her to actually find the ground, because he looked at her for a while before saying:
"Go ahead. There's a public train line between Kalon and Qingqiu City for shapeshifting mechs; you don't need to crawl there."
"But you can only stay there for two weeks at most. If you don't come back by then, don't force me to come and drag you out myself."
Yin Vector remained silent, lowering his head to redo his list of machine damage.
A gash in the chest, the outer armor of the left shoulder, the old weld seam on the side of the waist, plus the right leg linkage and the left leg joint that are almost stretched to their limit.
She highlighted the most critical parts in red.
She also had to do some preliminary repairs herself so that Red Spider wouldn't mistake her for a pile of junk that should go into the sorting area at first glance.
