Chapter 79 Lively and energetic
Jiang Ci looked at her with his eyes crinkled, stopping short of making a point. The tension in his mind finally eased, and he looked at Shen Xi with a slight smile on his lips.
It's alright that it's still lively and energetic.
He reached out and pressed the call button by the hospital bed, and Yan Kaihua arrived shortly afterward.
The old man had half-white hair. Although he was a bit old, he was very energetic and walked with a brisk pace. When he heard that Shen Xi had woken up, he immediately put down his stethoscope and rushed over.
Yan Kaihua, along with several doctors, gave Shen Xi a thorough examination, inside and out.
As he was about to leave, Yan Kaihua casually stroked his beard, his eyes darting around, and asked,
"Little girl, what were you dreaming about?"
Shen Xi roughly knew that she had slept for a while, and this Dr. Yan thought that she had psychological problems and did not want to wake up.
In reality, it was some unknown opportunity at the hot pot restaurant that night that awakened her memories of her first time traveling through time.
Jiang Ci kept his gaze fixed on Shen Xi, listening to their conversation. He got up, poured another glass of warm water, and placed it in Shen Xi's hand.
Shen Xi naturally took the glass, held it, and took a small sip. Her throat was finally not so dry anymore.
She explained to the doctor with a smile.
"I had a dream, not a good one, maybe even a nightmare, but thankfully I woke up."
Yan Kaihua nodded noncommittally, his smile kind and his tone gentle.
"Okay, you just woke up today, little girl, don't think too much. You're fine, the most important thing these days is to get some rest."
When Yan Kaihua received Jiang Ci's call, he rushed to the hospital and saw Jiang Ci standing outside with a layer of cold sweat on his forehead and pale lips. Yan Kaihua called him several times but he did not respond.
Sigh, both husband and wife are in poor health, and I don't know if their son will inherit it. It's so worrying!
He thought about it, shook his head, gave the instructions, and prepared to leave.
"Thank you, Uncle Yan. I'll see you out."
Jiang Ci, who had been sitting in a corner to avoid disturbing them, nodded, stood up, and spoke politely.
Yan Kaihua gave him a strange look.
Why are you being so polite today?
As expected, after the two walked into the office one after the other, Jiang Ci paused and closed the door.
"Uncle Yan, I have another question for you. Has Shen Xi experienced any problems with her health... such as issues with bodily functions or organs?"
Jiang Ci was clearly prepared. He held the report between his fingers and asked questions carefully, his expression cold and stern, with an unreadable emotion in his eyes.
Yan Kaihua, sitting in his chair, immediately objected upon hearing this, letting out a cold snort and glaring at the speaker.
"You brat, you still don't trust my medical skills? Don't worry, that girl is fine, but she needs to exercise more. She's obviously a bit weak."
Jiang Ci blinked. Hearing Yan Kaihua say that everything was really alright, the huge weight in his heart finally lifted. He smiled and looked at the old man in front of him who was glaring at him with indignation.
"Uncle Yan, smile more often, otherwise Aunt Hua will start to dislike you and find a prettier dance partner."
He opened the door immediately after speaking, put one hand in his pocket, and strode away.
Uncle Yan cares most about his wife, Aunt Hua. When he sees Aunt Hua dressed up and going out to dance in the square, he wishes he could hide her in his pocket so no one can see her.
Sure enough, a moment later, a furious roar came from behind, almost shaking the entire building, "You brat, you repay kindness with enmity, you just wait!!"
A few nurses outside the door stared incredulously at the examination room door, covering their mouths and whispering among themselves.
"Isn't Professor Yan usually quite kind?"
Another nurse shrugged, looking sighing.
"I wonder which patient angered him so much. These days, even cattle and horses have different classes. It seems like being a cow or a horse isn't easy..."
……
After Jiang Ci left, Shen Xi lowered her eyes, lost in thought, and didn't even notice Jiang Ci coming in.
"What is our beautiful Miss Shen thinking about?"
Jiang Ci's tone was somewhat resentful. He had been sitting there peeling an orange, but she still ignored him, which made him laugh out loud.
Lost in thought, Shen Xi looked at the strong, powerful hand in front of her and handed her a whole orange without any white spots. She subconsciously took it, and her good professional ethics made her think, "This hand is so beautiful, it could be a hand model."
Is it pretty?
"It looks great!" Shen Xi blurted out instinctively.
She then realized with a start that Jiang Ci had returned sometime earlier, and she casually mentioned what she had been thinking about.
"I heard Ruo say that I left behind some paintings. Do you know where they are?"
If Yan Ruo said that after she disappeared, all her belongings were taken by Jiang Ci, and that painting was largely in his possession.
This painting may also be key to her memory.
Jiang Ci took out a tissue and carefully wiped the stickiness from peeling the orange from his hands. He thought for a while, then lifted his eyelids.
“You love painting and have left behind many paintings. If you want to see them, I’ll show them to you when we get back.”
Shen Xi immediately perked up, "Dr. Yan said that I don't have any major health problems, so I can go back now."
Jiang Ci spoke calmly, coldly rejecting her, "No, you need to observe for a few more days. Once the situation has stabilized, we can go back and take a closer look."
Just as Shen Xi was about to retort, there was a knock on the ward door.
"Enter."
Hua Lan stood at the door with a bag slung over her shoulder, a thermos in her left hand, and Jiang Du's hand in her right. Su Su, wearing a pink dress, followed behind her.
"Miss Shen, I heard you woke up and wanted to come see you. How are you feeling now?"
Jiang Ci walked over and took the thermos from his mother's hand. He glanced at the child, then went to the table and opened the thermos.
Upon opening it, wow, there were several layers.
Fish and lean pork congee, corn and pork rib soup, yam and chestnut chicken, and a serving of cauliflower hearts.
Ms. Hua Lan's preparations were quite comprehensive.
Shen Xi was somewhat surprised to see Hua Lan, not expecting her to come to see her. This beautiful woman was very kind and gentle.
"I'm fine, thank you for your concern."
After saying that, she hooked her hand around Jiang Du's, winked at him, and then looked at Su Su and the child in her arms.
"Su Su, Xiao Qi An, it's been a long time."
Xiao Qi'an leaned against Su Su's chest and whispered shyly, "Xi Xi... okay."
Xiao Jiangdu wrinkled his nose upon hearing this, held back for a long time, glanced at his mother, and ultimately didn't say anything.
Su Su smiled gently.
"Xixi, you're finally awake."
Xiao Jiangdu squeezed in front of his mother, his chubby face scrunched up, a hint of worry in his eyes. "Mom, is there anything else that's bothering you? You must tell me if you're feeling unwell."
He whispered his instructions.
Shen Xi moved to the side, patted the empty seat on the right, and gestured for Jiang Du to sit down.
Jiang Du immediately sat down next to his mother with a smile on his face.
Jiang Ci clicked his tongue in disdain.
Hua Lan's eyes stung with tears. The girl had been lying there for days, and she had learned from Jiang Ci that Shen Xi was Jiang Du's birth mother. The story behind it was truly full of twists and turns!
