Chapter 463 Fever
The door slowly opened, and a warm yet slightly stuffy atmosphere rushed out.
"Mom?" Gu Tingyan called softly, but received no response.
He entered the room and heard a soft cough.
Gu Tingyan's heart tightened, and he looked in the direction of the sound, finding Li Yan lying on the bed with a flushed face.
"Mom, what's wrong with you?"
Gu Tingyan hurriedly walked to the bedside, reached out, and gently touched Li Yan's forehead.
The scalding heat made his heart clench instantly.
"It's so hot, he has a fever!" Gu Tingyan quickly picked up his phone, ready to dial an ambulance.
But then my phone rang; it was my secretary calling.
"Mr. Gu, the meeting is about to begin. Everyone is here and we're just waiting for you. This meeting is very important; it relates to a major project for our company."
The secretary's voice came from the other end of the phone, sounding hurried and anxious.
Gu Tingyan glanced at Li Yan lying on the bed, then at his phone, caught in a dilemma.
His brows were furrowed.
"I understand. You keep things stable for now. I have something to take care of here," Gu Tingyan said into the phone.
After hanging up the phone, Gu Tingyan decided to take Li Yan to the hospital first.
He carefully picked up Li Yan.
Li Yan stirred slightly in his arms, letting out a soft moan.
"Don't be afraid, Mom, I'll take you to the hospital right away," Gu Tingyan comforted her softly.
Soon, Gu Tingyan drove Li Yan to the hospital.
The hospital was filled with the smell of disinfectant, and the white walls and bright lights were somewhat dazzling.
Gu Tingyan carried Li Yan into the emergency room, his face filled with anxiety and worry.
"Doctor, please take a look at her, she has a fever." Gu Tingyan's voice trembled slightly, his eyes fixed on the doctor.
The doctor rushed over and performed a series of examinations on Li Yan.
While waiting for the test results, Gu Tingyan felt extremely heavy-hearted.
He paced back and forth in the corridor, his hands clasped tightly together.
Upon learning that Li Yan was ill, Duan Yujing rushed over.
He jogged all the way to the emergency room.
"How is Li Yan?" Duan Yujing asked anxiously as soon as he saw Gu Tingyan.
Gu Tingyan: "We're still waiting for the test results. She has a high fever."
"How could this happen? Everything was fine yesterday." Duan Yujing frowned.
Gu Tingyan's phone rang again; it was his secretary calling once more to urge him to attend the meeting.
Gu Tingyan glanced at his phone, then at Duan Yujing, and hesitated for a moment.
"Duan Yujing, I have an important meeting to attend, so I'm leaving Li Yan in your care. You must take good care of her." Gu Tingyan had no choice but to entrust this to Duan Yujing.
Duan Yujing nodded: "Don't worry, I'll take good care of her. You go and do your work." Duan Yujing walked to Li Yan's bedside and gently took her hand.
Gu Tingyan glanced at Li Yan, then turned and hurriedly left the hospital.
Duan Yujing sat by Li Yan's bedside, looking at her pale face, his eyes filled with worry and heartache.
He gently stroked Li Yan's hair, as if to comfort her, or as if to give himself some strength.
The hospital ward was filled with the pungent smell of disinfectant, and the white walls and sheets looked particularly cold under the light.
Duan Yujing stayed by Li Yan's bedside, holding her hands tightly.
"Li Yan, you'll be alright, you need to get better soon," Duan Yujing comforted her softly.
His gaze never left Li Yan's face, looking at her pale complexion and tightly closed eyes.
My heart felt like it was being gripped tightly by an invisible hand, the pain making it hard to breathe.
