Chapter 202 Foreigners
Chapter 202 Foreigners
By the time Lin Liuyi boarded the speeding train and arrived at the next destination station, he was already used to seeing the same high-tech station.
However, she seemed to notice that the foreigners around her hadn't gotten used to it yet.
"Oh my God, I knew China was the future!" a foreigner holding up his phone exclaimed.
"What? You're saying this is a green screen? How is that possible! It's all real!" Will explained calmly; this was the second city he was visiting.
Before coming to China, he was worried about whether he could adapt, because the internet in his own country said that China was poor and dilapidated, and that the people there were fierce and even ate animal organs.
But he was just too curious. How could a famous travel blogger like him not come to such a big country?
He even visited that populous neighboring country, although the environment there was terrible—the roads were covered in animal droppings, and the Mother River was full of garbage, which caused him to have diarrhea throughout his trip.
Having lived in such a terrible place, he couldn't believe there was a worse country.
He also came in along the border. When he first entered, the border town did look a bit dilapidated, but compared to a certain country full of excrement and urine, he was still relieved. At least the environment was clean.
After spending a few days in the town, enjoying local delicacies, and experiencing the local customs and culture, Will decided to move on.
For him, although China is not as bad as some people on the internet say, it is still inferior to his country. Life and technology here are somewhat backward.
When he arrived at the station, he was immediately shocked.
Just as Lin Liuyi said, it was too disjointed. Outside, it was clearly an old and dilapidated town, but the train station was full of science fiction elements.
Will, still unwilling to give up, went into the station and then went out again, wondering if he had accidentally traveled through time.
After confirming several times that what he was seeing was a real scene, he couldn't wait to turn on the video call to his friend.
"Hey Will, you're in China? Were you scared? I told you not to go to those kinds of countries. Look at me in Switzerland! The scenery is so beautiful!"
Will interrupted his good friend Ryan's incessant chatter, showing him his current situation.
"Oh, Ryan, you're wrong this time. Look where I am right now."
“Isn’t this just a small town? I’m telling you, Will, this is nowhere near as good as where we are. There aren’t even gardens or lawns!” Ryan said dismissively.
"Hey, my dear friend, don't rush! Wait for me!" Will entered the station holding his phone. "Ryan, can you see me?"
"Oh, damn it! Will, where did you go? Did you time travel?" Ryan had been mocking his friend, thinking that his choice of travel destination was inferior to his own.
What he saw next was a futuristic, sci-fi-inspired train station!
“No way! Ryan, this is a train station in China! Can you believe it? One second you were standing on an old stone road, and the next second you’re in this futuristic train station! Oh, Ryan, look, it even gives me directions!” Will, not wanting to miss out on the fun, showed off to Ryan.
Hmph, he didn't know that when he said he was coming to China, his friends even mocked him!
“Impossible, absolutely impossible! How could China have something like this! Will, you didn’t just use a green screen, did you? I know, you must think China is too backward and want to save face, so you used a green screen to fake it! Will, I didn’t mean to mock you!” Ryan still didn’t believe it.
Will didn't say anything, went out again, and came back in, only to find the same scene again.
"Oh, Ryan, didn't you notice the pedestrians here? There can't be so many people, it's impossible for me to be faking it!"
Will then carefully showed his ticket, played with the smart guidance system for a while, tried out the seats in the waiting hall, and even touched the walls of the hall.
In the end, Ryan had to admit that Will really wasn't lying.
"Oh my god! China is hiding so well! I'm going to apply to go to China right now, Will, you wait for me!" Ryan logged off impatiently.
Will was satisfied, but after he boarded the train, he discovered that the surprises China had in store for him were not yet over.
As the train slowly started moving, Will noticed that the windows had turned into transparent screens.
The app displays information about attractions along the route and allows passengers to switch between different theme modes based on their interests, such as history and culture tours or culinary tours.
As the train moves forward, the scenery outside the window resembles a flowing painting.
Sometimes it's a quaint and peaceful countryside, where farmers drive traditional water buffaloes to plow the rice paddies; in the blink of an eye, it's a modern metropolis with towering buildings, where elevated trains shuttle through.
The screen kept changing the scenery of various parts of China, but Will couldn't see the scenery outside the train window. He called over the train conductor in confusion.
"What? You're saying that because the car is going too fast, you can't see the scenery outside the window clearly, so you changed to a screen window?"
Will was shocked. He didn't think the train was going very fast. The train was very stable. He wondered if the staff were lying.
Staff explained that Will could choose to turn off the screen and select the window mode to view the scenery outside.
Will turned off the screen with some skepticism, wanting to see if the scenery outside the car window was really as the other person had described.
As soon as the screen was turned off, the view outside the window was clearly visible. Will only saw something flash by. Well, it seems what the other person said was true. The train was going too fast, and he couldn't see any scenery at all.
Will reluctantly switched back to screen mode and began to read the introductions to Chinese tourist attractions with great interest.
Not long after he started watching, another friend of his called over via video.
"Hey Will, Ryan told me you had a great time in China, that the technology there is even better than here, is that true?"
Will then shared his feelings with the other person, and even let him experience the feeling of the screen being off and on, which made the other person exclaim in surprise.
Until Will got out of the car, his phone kept ringing as his friends came to ask if what Ryan said was true.
At first, everyone exclaimed, "Impossible!"
After it was confirmed, everyone was surprised and incredulous!
Will initially tried to explain, but later he stopped explaining altogether and started demonstrating or letting everyone try it out.
When Lin Liuyi saw it, this was already Will's eighth phone call.
"Look, everyone getting off here has a ticket. They just insert the ticket to exit the station! And there are even floating guides on the big screen. Okay, I'm going to take their subway now. I wonder if it's just as futuristic!"
