Chapter 101 The Future Belonging to Calvin
Chapter 101 The Future Belonging to Calvin
Super-tier!!
It's actually a Super-Rank!!
The word "super-class" made Calvin's mind go blank, leaving him powerless to resist.
"What's wrong? Why aren't you saying anything?" Lynn took a step forward, a slight smile playing on her lips.
"Thirty days ago, didn't you send people to Graywood Village?"
"Oh, what are we supposed to do again?"
"By the way, you said you wanted to take my sister with you to be your thirteenth concubine, is that right?"
Lynn feigned contemplation, speaking calmly, yet sending a chill down Calvin's spine.
Calvin's Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed hard.
"I...I can make it up to you."
"Gold coins, territories, titles... I can give you all of them."
"Mr. Lynn, it was all a misunderstanding..."
Calvin's voice was dry as he tried to force a fawning smile, but it was distorted by fear.
"Misunderstand?"
"I don't think this is a misunderstanding."
"I...I can apologize!" Calvin knelt down with a thud.
The dignity of a baron and the pride of a nobleman are worthless in the face of death.
"I can kneel down and apologize to you! I can apologize to your sister! I can give you half the wealth of Blackthorn Territory!"
"No, all of it! All of it is for you!"
He crawled forward a few steps on his knees, his forehead slamming heavily against the stone floor with a dull thud. "Please spare my life! Spare my life! I beg you, Lord Lynn!"
Lynn looked at him quietly.
Thirty days ago, this man could decide the life and death of countless people in Graywood Village with just one sentence.
Thirty days later, he was on the ground begging for mercy like a dog.
How ironic.
"Father...it's all over! Blackthorn has no future." Looking at her father's disheveled appearance, Eleanor, whose eyes had been empty, forced a pale smile.
"No! No, that's not it, Eleanor!"
"Yes! And Eleanor too!!"
Calvin shook his head frantically, as if he had grasped at a straw.
He turned to Lynn: "Mr. Lynn! Look how beautiful my daughter is!"
"She's pregnant! But she's carrying a child with the bloodline of the Dark Ones! This child will surely be powerful in the future! I can give the child to you!"
"I'll give you Eleanor too! Please spare my life!"
"No, my lord, Lord Lynn, even if you won't spare my life, spare Eleanor's! She knows nothing; it was all my doing!"
"My lord, I beg you!"
"Blackthorn cannot exist without a future!"
"Eleanor, come here quickly."
"quick!"
"Tell me quickly, you will serve Lord Lynn well."
Calvin crawled to Lynn's feet like a dog and then started calling out towards Eleanor.
"Father, it's all over!"
Eleanor smiled and slowly got up from the bed.
Her movements were somewhat stiff, like a puppet being manipulated by strings.
Her gaze swept over Calvin, finally settling on Lynn and Leah.
She paused, as if recalling something.
Those eyes…those red eyes in the basement, which, besides a beastly thirst, occasionally flashed with pain and bewilderment…
"Oh, right." Eleanor suddenly remembered something and looked at Lynn.
"The basement...the lowest basement of the castle, there's still someone locked up there."
"A man with long white hair and red eyes, his name is Shadow, and he is also... a victim."
After saying this, Eleanor's gaze swept over the room where her mother had once lived.
She glanced at the black thorn emblem tapestry on the wall, which she had once regarded as an honor.
Finally, she glanced at Calvin, who was kneeling on the ground with a pleading expression.
She turned around and walked towards the window outside the door.
"Eleanor! What are you doing!"
"No, Eleanor!" Calvin seemed to realize something and shouted in terror.
Eleanor did not answer.
She walked to the window, reached out and stroked the windowsill, her movements as gentle as if she were caressing a lover's face.
Then, she used all her strength and leaped down.
"don't want--!!!"
Calvin's roar rang out.
Time seemed to stretch out at that moment.
Her long golden hair cascaded in the air, and her azure eyes held a smile.
The hem of her nightgown bloomed like flower petals, and the golden-red rays of the setting sun bathed her in a beautiful halo.
There was no fear or sadness on her face, only relief.
Then--
"Bang!"
A dull thud came from below the castle.
On the stone-paved square directly below the main castle building, a patch of glaring bright red is slowly spreading.
It looks just like a red rose in full bloom, dazzlingly beautiful.
A deathly silence lingered in the banquet hall for several seconds.
Then, Calvin let out a howl that sounded inhuman: "Eleanor—!!!"
That was truly heartbreaking.
No matter how twisted or cruel he was, Eleanor was still his only daughter, the only bloodline left by his deceased wife.
In that instant, the pain of losing his daughter overwhelmed the fear of death.
Calvin practically crawled to the window, looking down at the glaring crimson flower below, and tears welled up in his eyes.
"My daughter... my Eleanor..." He pounded on the windowsill, his nails splitting and bleeding profusely.
"How could you be so foolish... Father was wrong... Father was really wrong..."
This confession may have some sincerity.
But it only lasted for a short moment.
Because the next second, Lynn's icy voice rang out behind him:
"Are you done crying?"
Calvin's crying stopped abruptly.
He turned his head stiffly and saw that in Lynn's brown eyes there was no pity, only cold judgment.
Seeing Lynn's cold eyes, Calvin gave a desolate smile.
He understood, just as his daughter had said, that he truly had no future.
Calvin drew the longsword he always wore at his waist, a gift from his deceased wife.
He gave up begging for mercy, and his expression became somewhat ferocious:
"Why?! Why?!"
"You lowly people should just die. Why are you better than me?"
"I can accept being a noble by blood, but why should you, a lowly commoner, be stronger than me?!"
"I'm not reconciled!! Why did it have to be like this!!"
"My future shouldn't be like this!!"
In his anger and resentment, Calvin seemed to hear his deceased wife's words of trust in him again: "If it's Calvin, I believe you can do it."
"It seems I have failed your trust!"
Calvin murmured, seemingly having lost all his strength, and held his longsword across his neck.
moment.
Blood splattered out.
After Calvin's suicide.
Lynn made his move; a soft green light enveloped the wound, instantly healing the fatal injury.
Calvin, who was initially in despair, was somewhat bewildered, but after a moment, he became overjoyed.
He scrambled toward Lynn, trying to grab her leg: "Lord Lynn, are you... planning to spare me? If you spare me, I'll do anything for you, like a slave."
"No, I just think it's too easy for you to die like this," Lynn said slowly, kicking him away.
"What?" Calvin's expression went from delight to disbelief.
Lynn ignored him and simply recited softly.
"Let the elements that are free from nature converge here."
"Soothe wounds, nourish the parched."
"May the wood magic [Continuous Healing] continue to flow!"
A soft green light enveloped him, and Calvin felt better than ever before.
But Lynn's recitation continued.
"To build a prison, to confine sinful souls."
"With steel as its backbone, and sin as its bond."
"Let it be revealed here."
"Gold and Wood Hybrid Magic [Iron Maiden]".
An Iron Maiden appeared in the air, its interior filled with sharp spikes.
"No! No!" Calvin felt despair upon seeing this thing.
He scrambled and crawled in an attempt to escape, but countless vines appeared from the Iron Maiden, pulling him inside.
Amid Calvin's stern cries, it was sealed off directly.
Thanks to the continued healing, Calvin's screams continued incessantly.
"That's more like it. So what if you regret it? So what if you're desperate? We can't let you commit suicide. You still need to be punished. Otherwise, we've come all this way for nothing."
Lynn smiled and turned to Kerville, who was sprawled on the ground.
The butler was terrified, muttering, "Don't kill me...don't kill me...I only obeyed the master's orders...everything was the master's command..."
"lead the way."
"Go to the basement."
Lynn's lips parted slightly.
Kerville, however, felt as if he had been granted a pardon and scrambled to his feet.
He practically crawled out of the room on his knees, heading towards the lowest level of the castle.
