Chapter 361 The Sleeping Curse
As soon as Li Wei's hand touched the stone tablet, a sharp buzzing sound suddenly sounded, as if an ancient spell was coming from deep within the stone tablet. A faint blue light began to appear on the surface of the stone tablet, and the light gradually spread, enveloping the three people. Zhang Wanqing subconsciously grabbed Fu Siyuan's arm and asked nervously, "What's going on?"
Li Wei frowned and tried to step back, but found his feet seemed to be firmly nailed to the spot by some invisible force. He struggled hard, but to no avail. Fu Siyuan quickly pulled a small recorder from his backpack, pressed the record button, and said, "No matter what happens, we must record it. Maybe this is the key to unlocking everything."
The blue light on the stone tablet grew brighter, and the giant eye pattern seemed to come alive, its pupils flickering with an eerie light. Suddenly, a gust of wind arose from nowhere, sweeping up dust and fallen leaves from the ground, blurring the three people's vision. When the wind died, they found themselves no longer in the open space of the abandoned factory, but standing in an unfamiliar valley.
Surrounded by towering cliffs, the valley was filled with a damp, ancient atmosphere. A low roar could be heard in the distance, as if something was watching them from the darkness. Zhang Wanqing subconsciously approached Li Wei and Fu Siyuan and whispered, "Have we traveled through time?"
"Don't talk nonsense, this must be a trap." Li Wei's face turned pale. He looked around, trying to find a way back. However, there was no light in the valley, only the faint blue light from the stone tablet was still flickering.
Fu Siyuan suddenly pointed ahead and said, "Look, what's that?" Following the direction of his finger, the three of them saw a faint light flickering at the end of the valley. Li Wei took the lead and stepped forward, saying, "Whatever it is, let's go over and take a look."
They made their way through a thicket of thorny bushes and arrived at the entrance of a vast cave. Echoes echoed from within, as if whispers were coming from within. Li Wei pulled a flashlight from his backpack and turned it on, illuminating the cavern with a bright beam of light. To their amazement, they discovered that the cavern walls were covered in ancient symbols, remarkably similar to the eye patterns they had seen on the stone tablet.
"This is some kind of ancient sacrificial symbol," Fu Siyuan whispered. "I've seen similar patterns in an archaeology magazine. They represent some kind of forbidden power."
"The power of taboo?" Zhang Wanqing's face turned pale. "Could it be that Chen Yifeng was corrupted by this power and turned into that black-robed man?"
"It's very likely." Li Wei nodded, "We must find the truth, otherwise we might be the next to become the black robed man."
They walked cautiously into the cave, following the symbols on the wall. The cave grew deeper and deeper, and the air became more humid. Suddenly, Fu Siyuan stopped, pointed ahead, and said, "Look, what's that?"
In the flashlight's beam, they saw a huge stone door at the end of the cave. Carved on the door was a giant eye, exactly the same as the one on the stone tablet. Zhang Wanqing couldn't help but ask, "What's behind this door?"
"You'll know only when you open it." Li Wei stepped forward and reached out to push the stone door. However, the stone door didn't budge. Fu Siyuan suddenly remembered something and pulled out a tattered notebook from his backpack, which they had found when they were investigating Chen Yifeng. He quickly turned to a page that read, "When eyes are opened, the truth will be revealed."
"Open your eyes?" Zhang Wanqing frowned. "What does this mean?"
Fu Siyuan suddenly pointed at the eye pattern on the stone gate and said, "Look, the pupil of this eye pattern is active, like a switch!" He carefully turned his pupil, and suddenly, a slight vibration came from the stone gate, and then the stone gate slowly opened.
A powerful gust of air surged from behind the door, knocking the three back several steps. When the air dissipated, they saw a vast basement behind the door. In the center of the basement lay a massive crystal coffin. Within the coffin lay a man dressed in ancient attire. His face was serene, as if he were simply asleep.
"Who is this?" Zhang Wanqing's voice trembled slightly.
"I guess this might be something Chen Yifeng discovered that shouldn't be discovered," Fu Siyuan whispered. "He might have touched some taboo, causing himself to be cursed."
Li Wei walked forward and carefully examined the crystal coffin. Suddenly, he noticed a line of small words engraved on the bottom of the coffin: "The awakener will be cursed, the sleeper will live forever." He raised his head, his face becoming extremely serious. "It seems that Chen Yifeng is the awakener."
"The awakener?" Zhang Wanqing asked in confusion.
"Yes, he may have accidentally awakened this sleeping person, and was cursed into a black-robed man." Fu Siyuan said, "And this sleeping person may be the source of everything."
At this moment, the walls of the basement suddenly began to shake, and a low roar came from all directions. The three people were horrified to find that the symbols on the wall began to flicker, as if something was awakening.
"Run!" Li Wei shouted, and the three of them turned and rushed out of the cave. However, the entrance to the cave had been blocked by an invisible force, and they were trapped in the basement.
"What should we do?" Zhang Wanqing asked in panic.
Fu Siyuan suddenly remembered something and pulled out the worn notebook from his backpack. He flipped to a page that read, "Only a pure heart can seal the forbidden power." He raised his head and said to Zhang Wanqing and Li Wei, "We must find a way to seal it, otherwise we will all become the next Black Robe Man."
"Pure heart?" Li Wei frowned. "What does this mean?"
At that moment, the crystal coffin suddenly emitted a dazzling light, and the man inside slowly opened his eyes. His eyes were cold and empty, as if devoid of any emotion. He sat up from the coffin and said in a mechanical and cold voice, "You shouldn't have come here."
"Who are you?" Fu Siyuan asked loudly.
"I am a sleeper." The man's voice was flat. "You woke me up, and you must pay the price."
"We didn't want to wake you up!" Zhang Wanqing retorted loudly, "This is all Chen Yifeng's fault!"
The man sneered and said, "Chen Yifeng? He's just a pitiful victim. He tried to use knowledge to fight against taboos, but he didn't know that he had fallen into a curse. And you, too."
"We won't let you succeed!" Li Wei shouted. He took out a small recorder from his backpack, pressed the record button, and said, "No matter what happens, we must record it and let the world know the truth."
