Chapter 187 Golden Silkworm

Chapter 187 Golden Silkworm

Xiaoya said coldly, "Tie Qin Jiu up and kill the people in the carriage."

Qin Jiu suddenly realized: "You're one of An Liangchen's people?"

An Liangchen was worried about Xue Yunting on Chongming Island. If Nianyao went missing, the blame would fall on Xue Yunting and Duan Mingzhu no matter what.

If An Liangchen imprisoned Nianyao and Xu Lai took control of Chongming Island, it would be equivalent to An Liangchen controlling the island. Unfortunately, man proposes, God disposes; no one expected Nianyao to wake up so quickly.

Xiao Ya and her men surrounded the carriage, its curtains drawn, obscuring the view inside. Xiao Ya leaped into the air and slashed at the carriage with her sword.

Qin Jiu was bound hand and foot and thrown aside. Seeing this, he closed his eyes in despair.

He should have known better than to think that a princess like him would ever be interested in him. His life has been a complete mess; he was a burden to his mother before, and now he's a burden to Xue Yunting and Nianyao.

Before Qin Jiu could finish his thought, he heard a scream and saw someone fall to the side. He opened his eyes and saw Xue Yunting's longsword piercing through Xiao Ya's chest.

Xiaoya stared wide-eyed and said, "...How...is that possible..."

Xiao Ya died with her eyes wide open in disbelief. Xue Yunting drew his long sword and turned to Liang Qingcheng. Liang Qingcheng, holding Bu Zhi, retreated outside the circle and shouted, "Kill him!"

Xue Yunting's eyes turned bloodshot. He switched to wielding his sword with his left hand, and his fighting prowess was even greater than before he was injured, almost killing one man with a single strike. The men in black quickly fell to the ground.

Seeing the situation was turning against them, the last two men in black fled. Liang Qingcheng panicked immediately and, in her haste, picked up the sword from the ground, intending to use Qin Jiu as a hostage.

Xue Yunting threw a flying knife, severing the ropes binding Qin Jiu. Qin Jiu kicked Liang Qingcheng's wrist, then leaped up, flicking the ropes back to bind Liang Qingcheng tightly.

Xue Yunting collapsed with a thud, and Qin Jiu barely managed to lift him up, almost touching the ground.

Duan Mingzhu then jumped down from the carriage, stuffed a pill into Xue Yunting's mouth, and said in a slightly trembling voice, "Ninth Brother, he is exhausted. Please put him in the carriage."

Qin Jiu did as instructed and laid Xue Yunting down on the carriage. Xue Yunting's face was deathly pale, and only a faint breath proved that he was still alive.

Unaware that his eyes were covered, he stood obediently in place until now, when he finally called out uneasily, "Father...Mother..."

Liang Qingcheng was already unconscious. She heard someone calling her name, and her eyes seemed to move, but she did not wake up.

Qin Jiu felt a pang of sorrow and picked up Bu Zhi, placing him on the carriage: "Bu Zhi, Father is here."

"Dad, may I take off my face mask?"

Qin Jiu removed the blindfold from her face: "All done."

Buzhi glanced at Xue Yunting lying in the middle of the carriage, then at Qin Jiu, and was about to peek out when Qin Jiu stopped him: "Buzhi must be tired. Why don't you rest here for a while?"

He seemed a little anxious: "Father, where's Mother? Mother... Mother..."

No one answered. Qin Jiu said, "Mother is asleep. Why don't you sleep with your uncle for a while?"

Unaware of her unwillingness, she said, "I don't want to, I want to stay with my mother."

Qin Jiu put on a stern face and said, "No."

He was obedient yet stubborn. When he saw Qin Jiu was angry, he pouted and tears fell one by one.

Qin Jiu was about to comfort him when he suddenly burst into tears: "Mother, Mother, I want Mother, I want to be with Mother... I want Mother, I want to be with Mother..."

No matter how well they usually got along, Qin Jiu always sided with her mother when it mattered. Qin Jiu, suppressing her anger, said, "You stay here, and Father will come and carry you to Mother's carriage in a bit, okay?"

After thinking for a moment, he asked, "You're not lying?"

Qin Jiu said, "Of course. You can't move here."

He nodded and said, "Okay, I won't move. You need to hurry."

Qin Jiu went out and carried Liang Qingcheng to another carriage. Just as he was about to get off the carriage, he turned back and untied the ropes binding Liang Qingcheng. Then, covering Liang Qingcheng's unknowing eyes, he carried him back to Qin Jiu.

Upon seeing Liang Qingcheng, just as he was about to call out, Qin Jiu shushed him and whispered, "Mother is asleep, so be good and don't disturb her."

He immediately shut up and quietly looked at Liang Qingcheng, seemingly very worried.

Qin Jiu couldn't bear it and unfolded the small blanket in the corner: "How about sleeping with Mother for a while?"

Unbeknownst to them, Qin Jiu immediately lay down next to Liang Qingcheng, his arms around Liang Qingcheng's neck. Qin Jiu covered them both with the blanket before getting out of the carriage.

Duan Mingzhu squatted down next to Nian Yao and waved to Qin Jiu: "Brother Jiu, I can't stand up, please help me up."

Qin Jiu quickly helped Duan Mingzhu up and noticed that she was holding a hairpin sword. He also noticed that Nian Yao's clothes were cut open on her arm, and that the places where the silver needles had been inserted were all cut open. A golden silkworm was lying on the wound, its belly bulging as if it was sucking.

The silkworm was entirely golden, slightly larger than a normal silkworm, with a plump belly that made its head appear small. Qin Jiu instantly thought of the legendary Golden Silkworm Gu.

Qin Jiu felt a chill run through his body: "Young...Young Madam, why don't you go and rest in the carriage first?"

Duan Mingzhu helped him walk towards the carriage. She climbed onto the carriage and took out a porcelain bottle from her bosom: "Ninth Brother, this is medicine for wounds. Please help my sister bandage her wounds later."

Qin Jiu turned to look at the golden silkworm: "Young Madam, can the Chief's poison be cured?"

Duan Mingzhu took off the colorful egg-shaped pouch from her waist and handed it to Qin Jiu: "I've taken all the silver needles out of my body. The silkworm will come back here after it's eaten its fill, and I'll put it away for you, Ninth Brother."

After Duan Mingzhu finished speaking, she slammed the car door shut. She didn't refuse, nor did she give Qin Jiu a chance to speak.

Qin Jiu stared at the golden silkworm, a sense of fear welling up inside him. He had only heard of such witchcraft before; this was the first time he had witnessed it firsthand.

There really was an egg inside the colorful egg bag, but it was a small wooden egg carton with a few tiny holes in the lid, emitting a faint fragrance.

Qin Jiu lifted the lid of the egg, and the sandalwood scent was very strong, with incense ash underneath. Qin Jiu squatted a little far away and stretched out his arm to place the egg carton next to Nian Yao.

After the golden silkworm had sucked all the wounds, it seemed to have a mind of its own and slowly crawled toward the egg carton. Qin Jiu was hesitating whether to knock the carton over when the golden silkworm suddenly jumped and landed inside the egg carton with incredible lightness.

Qin Jiu stretched out his arm again, closed the egg carton, put the eggs in the egg bag, and set it aside. He leaned closer to look at the wound on Nian Yao's hand; the color had returned to normal, unlike the blackness caused by poisoning.

Qin Jiu felt relieved and poured some medicine powder from the porcelain bottle onto the wound. He was concentrating on bandaging it when he heard Nian Yao let out a soft "ouch".

Qin Jiu looked up and saw Nian Yao open her eyes. His tense heart suddenly relaxed, and he sat down on the ground with a thud: "Chief, you're finally awake."

Nianyao propped herself up to sit up, looking at the half-torn sleeve of her clothes. Her exposed arm was covered in goosebumps from the cold weather.

Nianyao had no time to worry about that: "Where are they?"
