Chapter 1929 As expected of an old acquaintance with whom I've fought many times.
Yueyao paused, then looked at Yue Wuhen:
What is Mingchuan's condition in prison?
"I've been resting with my eyes closed the whole time, and I haven't moved at all."
"Nothing's been touched?" Yueyao raised an eyebrow. "Not eating or drinking?"
"He didn't touch the food that was brought in, nor did he drink a drop of water."
Yueyao was silent for a moment, then suddenly smiled.
"Interesting. Did he anticipate I'd be there tonight, and was he worried that eating would interfere with his actions?"
Yue Wuhen was taken aback: "The fairy is going tonight?"
“Tonight,” Yueyao nodded, “if this drags on any longer, the Third Prince’s attitude will become completely clear. At that point, Tianque City will no longer be a place I can come to whenever I want.”
She walked to the door and glanced back at Yue Wuhen:
"You take some men and stand guard outside. If something unexpected happens, you know what to do."
Yue Wuhen bowed: "Your subordinate understands."
……
Night was falling.
The guards in the prison had been replaced. The two new guards were younger than the two from earlier that day, but their vigilance was no less.
They stood outside the prison door, their eyes never leaving the figure inside who was resting with his eyes closed.
Suddenly, a faint fragrance drifted by.
The two guards' eyes glazed over for a moment, then returned to normal.
But they themselves did not realize that in that instant, their consciousness had been quietly infiltrated by some force.
Yueyao emerged from the shadows, dressed in a long, moon-white dress, her steps light and graceful, as if she were walking in her own backyard.
She stood outside the cell door, looking at the young man sitting on the stone bed inside, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes.
In the past three hundred years, there have been few people she has personally dealt with. And the only one who has repeatedly caused her to fail is the one right before her!
She raised her hand and waved it gently.
The protective light on the prison door flickered briefly, then vanished silently.
The door opened.
Yueyao went inside.
Mingchuan kept his eyes closed, seemingly oblivious to everything.
Yueyao stopped three steps in front of him and looked at him quietly.
"Stop pretending. If you were really asleep, you should have woken up the moment the barrier was broken."
Mingchuan opened his eyes and smiled lazily.
"Not bad, you know me quite well. No wonder you've fought me so many times."
Yueyao didn't answer, she just looked at his pale face.
His disheveled appearance, yet his attempt to appear composed, was both laughable and infuriating!
It's very unpleasant to watch, making you so angry you want to grind your teeth.
You can't kill him, so you can only let him lead you by the nose!
Disgusting stuff!
Yueyao grew angrier the more she thought about it, but she suppressed her anger and said, "You knew I would come?"
“I know.” Mingchuan nodded. “The kind of person you won’t feel at ease until you see your prey caught.”
A chill flashed in Yueyao's eyes: "Aren't you afraid I'll really kill you?"
"I'm afraid," Mingchuan said frankly, "but I know you won't make a move here."
"why?"
“Because this is the imperial prison.” Mingchuan looked at her. “The Third Prince’s men are outside. If you kill me, it’s like slapping him in the face in public. He’s someone you need to win over now, not someone you need to offend.”
Yueyao was silent for a moment, then smiled, but her eyes held a strong killing intent.
"Mingchuan, what I hate most is your self-righteous, all-knowing attitude!"
“Same to you.” Mingchuan shrugged. “I also hate your way of always putting on airs, as if everyone in the world is your pawn.”
Yueyao's gaze grew even colder.
But she didn't move.
She stood there in front of Mingchuan, looking at him, and remained silent for a long time.
"You brought Huineng here to keep me in check?" she suddenly asked.
“No.” Mingchuan shook his head. “Master Huineng came on his own. He wanted to see what you were up to.”
Yueyao raised her eyebrows slightly.
"And what about you? What do you want to do?"
Mingchuan looked at her and suddenly smiled.
"I want to make a deal with you."
Yueyao was stunned for a moment, then seemed to have heard something funny.
"A deal? You, a prisoner, want to talk to me about a deal?"
"So what if I'm a prisoner?" Mingchuan said dismissively. "Even prisoners have their value. You came all this way just to see if there's anything about me that you're interested in, right?"
Yueyao's smile faded slightly.
She stared at Mingchuan, her eyes unfathomable.
“Go on.”
“I know what you’re looking for.” Mingchuan lowered his voice slightly. “Chiyang. The gatekeeper who guards the Southern Ming Fire Prison.”
Yueyao's pupils contracted slightly.
"how do you know?"
“How I know is not important,” Mingchuan shook his head. “What is important is that I know where he is.”
Yueyao remained silent for a long time.
She looked at Mingchuan with a gaze that seemed to see right through his soul.
You're lying to me.
“You don’t have to believe me,” Mingchuan shrugged, “but you came to me precisely to take a gamble, didn’t you?”
Yueyao did not answer.
She simply stood there, looking at Mingchuan, her gaze shifting uncertainly.
After a long while, she suddenly smiled.
“Interesting,” she said softly. “It’s getting more and more interesting.”
She turned and walked towards the prison gate.
As she reached the door, she suddenly stopped and turned to look at Mingchuan.
“I’ve noted down your deal, but I won’t talk to you so easily. I’ll come back to you after I’ve confirmed some things.”
After saying that, her figure disappeared into the night.
Mingchuan leaned back against the stone bed, closed his eyes again, and a faint smile appeared on his lips.
It became.
……
In the shadows outside the cell, Master Lingxu watched all of this silently.
His aura was completely concealed, and he seemed to merge with the darkness.
When Yueyao walked past him, she didn't even glance at that corner.
But Master Lingxu heard everything she just said clearly.
Blazing Sun, the Southern Ming Fire Prison.
Yueyao indeed knew of that person's existence.
Moreover, she was clearly already looking for him.
Master Lingxu frowned slightly.
Mingchuan said he had a way to deal with Yueyao, but he didn't expect that Mingchuan would dare to use Chiyang's information as a bargaining chip.
What would happen if Yueyao really found Chiyang?
What exactly is Mingchuan up to?! He's really unpredictable!
……
Yueyao has returned to the small courtyard in the east of the city.
She sat under the lamp, her fingers tapping lightly on the table, her gaze deep and unfathomable.
Yue Wuhen stood aside, not daring to utter a sound.
After a long while, Yueyao suddenly spoke:
"Go investigate something."
"Please give your orders, fairy."
"Check the location of the Southern Ming Fire Prison, and all records about Chiyang."
Yue Wuhen was taken aback: "The Southern Ming Fire Prison?"
"Why ask so many questions? Just do what I tell you to do."
"Yes."
Yue Wuhen accepted the order and left.
Yueyao sat alone under the lamp, watching the flickering candlelight, a cold smile playing on her lips.
Mingchuan, what exactly are you planning?
But no matter what you're planning... I'm going to have Chiyang!
